this is why the best thing you can do for the environment is to buy a tesla for the next 5-10 years. no other company is going to do what telsa does.others will follow but tesla will do it first, and will do the brunt of the difficult work. elon and his employees work harder than any one to prevent catastrophic climate change. the first few million tesla's that are sold are funding such incredible innovation. in ten years, most of us will be chosing to use affordable self-driving taxis. within ten years less than 10% of new powerplants BEING BUILT will be fossil fuel. the cars that are being sold now will tremendously bring down the cost of battery storage. lithium ion can get us to 50-80% renewables and by then we will develop a better storage option for long term storage. lithium works well for short term storage. Tesla will probably be involved in the next great energy storage technology too, but for now the same batteries that go in the cars will allow us to install so much more wind and solar. so if you can buy a tesla in the next few years its a huge deal. now in 10-20 years its different, by then if you can you should not own a car, but it is the early adopters that will create the innovation to bankrupt polluting industries and create a sustainable world.
