Kudos to Lucid for having physical buttons, a smooth screen gives you no feedback which makes you take your eyes off the road to make sure you are pressing the right button

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this impressed with any car. The amount of thought and detail they’ve put into the design of this car is so impressive.

Physical Buttons for common functions are better than screens, though. It's just better UX to have consistent controls that don't move and have a specific purpose and to have physical controls ergonomically tailored to their function. I hope they never get rid of them.

Do not tell me this car wasn’t made for Doug… Easter eggs, manual vents, buttons for AC. Well played Lucid, who ever you are.

I'm very impressed by the effort Lucid put into the practical design of their car - you can see it in the way they don't follow the buttonless trend mindlessly, but rather keep a few where it makes sense, and organize the battery pack for the extra foot room.

Many large companies could learn a thing or two from them it seems.

I saw one in person today and was impressed how wide and long it looked. I’d say it is way cooler in person than on the internet.

11:50. I don’t think Lucid is doing this to “transition” people to touch screens. It is correct to keep fan speed, temperature, and volume as touch buttons as they are the most adjusted things in a car.

My honest opinion is that buttons are way superior over screens, yea packing away features that are rarely used to clean up the interior is nice, but the climate controls, seat controls, mirror controls, reading lights and similar stuff you quickly wanna flick on, or adjust when reversing, switching driver, and cooling down/heating up as you feel cold or hot

Edit: Wow, it definitely doesn’t seem like I’m alone in my disgust of replacing traditional well made and really useful buttons with a cheapish feeling screen, I wish traditional manufacturers like Mercedes would stick with their beautiful well designed button filled interiors to stand out in the future

One of the best designed and thought out vehicles I’ve seen in a long while. The industry needed this car! Happy to see it in production after all these years. Congrats to Lucid!

Actually Doug, I prefer switches/buttons because of the tactility. Having to look down or over when driving can be dangerous. In my cars I don’t have to take my eyes off of the road to turn on the AC etc. I’m strongly considering this whip though. Thanks for reviews!

I like the buttons a lot to be honest. Sometimes I'm cold so I want to increase temperature and fan speed but turn it down again in a few minutes, buttons are perfect for quick adjustments on the fly.

I don't know why modern cars have screens only, these 5 buttons do what most people want buttons for and they are nicely integrated into the design

This car is extremely impressive, particularly on the inside. I have seen this car in person and it’s amazing for a company that has never made a car, honestly.

Physical buttons isn’t a “throw back”, it’s best practice. It’s still the fastest and safest way to do common tasks.

Doug does an amazing job reviewing cars. His reviews are extremely detailed and thorough in explaining everything.

I can't imagine a greater pain than using a touch screen to turn your windshield wipers on. Digitalizing everything in the cars is going too far.

So naturally when Doug reviews the tri-motor 1500 hp Lucid Air with the executive jet seating with the individual lounger chairs in the back he'll give it the top Dougscore of any car he's ever reviewed.

I love how every time Doug sees a card key he’s like what a cool idea - as if he’s never seen it before

Some people may think luxury means screens and digital controls everywhere. I think true luxury is rooted in convenience, such as having a physical object you can manipulate without even looking.
