I am a Tamilian. I learnt Malayalam just casually, on my own. Even i can read, little bit I can write also. Little bit effort is enough to learn Malayalam. Words are easy. But the pronunciation is very tough for tamilians. The script is tough. So, it is not as easy to read and write. Spoken language is easy.
