The contentious anti-conversion bill was tabled in the Karnataka assembly on Tuesday despite concerns raised by the opposition and Christian leaders over its potential misuse to target religious minorities. After the tabling of the bill, a fresh protest was held by a group of organisations in Bengaluru, and attended by Bengaluru's Archbishop Peter Machado, who has made his opposition to the bill very clear.

There should be law against conversion of politicians. They should not be allowed to move from one party to another party. Stop the buying of politicians. That is the biggest issue at this time. People vote for one party and then the leader goes and joins the other party.

The law is not against conversions. It is against conversion by fraudulent means and hiding their identity to get govt benefits which is reserved for other communities

After seeing protestors one thing is clear, only one religion has a problem with the bill which clearly indicate that they are actually doing these kind of conversion which is mentioned in bill. Henceforth they won't able to the same going forward.
I wish center government should bring such law throughout India to stop such conversion.

Karnataka govt is behaving like Pakistan. state should have no say in regimenting religion. if its a forceful conversion, convertee can always walk to nearest police station to complain.

It all started with the nation trying to follow something called "Gujarat Model", which itself was a flawed model to go by...
That never happened anyways in all these years... Now the whole nation is following something more horrendous called the "UP Model".

At the end of the day, the greatest consequence is that the state that truly followed a genuine model of Sustainable Growth, Development & Welfare since time immemorial is losing its own identity and morale. Say Hi to UP Model, Tata-Goodbye to Karnataka Model of growth...

Govt says its only against forced conversions! If you are not converting someone forcefully, then, what are these protests for?? Why should any community feel targeted if this is not the case??
