Hooliganism shouldn't be tolerated, plain and simple. If one doesn't wish to speak Hindi, it is absolutely justified, but one shouldn't be forced to speak any language just because it is common to your place, not everyone is supposed to know it.

Why do people assume that Hindi is the national language of
Hindi is an official language....
Like Kannada,
Like Telugu
Like Tamil
Like Malayalam....
Along with 21 languages.... Hindi is also an official language....
India has no National language....

If You are Living in Karnataka Then You Should Learn the Local Language for Communicate
You Have No Right To Impose Your Mother Tongue Language on their State. As a Bengali from North East If I want to Do Job or Business at Hindi Belt Without Knowing Hindi Language Is it Possible?

I support local language but be friendly and teach people about your language. Assimilate them, one cannot speak kannada from 1st day.

Interesting how people go to many lengths to learn a language like German or French when moving to their countries but find it offensive when asked to respect our very own languages. Agreed, we may not know every single word, but at least try. Learn some basics to get by and connect with people. I was Bengaluru for two years and ensured to communicate a little when taking the auto. They appreciated it too. No one should ever be forced to learn a language but at least be respectful and considerate when asked to respect them and their language.

"If people like me can go through this, imagine a normal man"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kanimozhi, an MP from Tamil Nadu, went through the same for not knowing Hindi, in an airport, a long ago.
You are just born, bro.Go have some milk and peace.

My Mother tongue is Telugu. I lived in Bangalore for 12 Yrs. But cant speak fluent Kannada for so many reasons. Got humiliated so many times. I felt like i was not in India. I respect Bangalore, since i got chance to learn and be a bread earner to family. I Left Bangalore with Family because of these kind of reasons. Tamilnadu also I heard same issues. People should grow up. People should be patriots towards country.

I am from Bangalore, and my mother tongue is Kannada. I think the issue we face in Bangalore regarding these kinds of language crises is almost always through the extreme sides of both the Kannada people and the North Indians (Hindi speaking) who migrate to Bangalore, sure whatever the airport official did to him is simply not acceptable and frankly, the authority should take some serious action on the official for mistreating a person based off of such circumstances. But while I'm at it, I think most people (who haven't been to Bangalore) need to realize that there are certain groups of people who almost "force" Kannada people to speak Hindi, heck, it's happened to me multiple times too. I've had instances where I've been forced to speak Hindi in my own city like I don't belong there, and if I've encountered such situations, I'm confident a lot more Kannada people have gone through the same too, and probably that's the reason why some Kannada people tend to get aggressive on this matter as I've seen on social media.

At the end of the day, I think the language in itself is not such an important barrier as these extremists claim it to be, but at the same time when there's an issue like this, I believe it's important to address both sides of the problem rather than victimizing one and defending the other. Please don't get me wrong about this, I am all for Salman Yusuf's side in this particular situation but what I'm stating is, there are plenty more situations like this where Kannada people have been the victim of language shaming by North Indians, in their own city - Bangalore.

What happened to him was unfortunate and certainly condemnable especially at an airport, but
1- He calls Bengaluru his city and does not relate to its very core,
2- He calls hindi the national language our country which isn’t even true .
The irony here is that he calls the staff uneducated when he himself is uneducated about the schedule 8 of the Indian Constitution and that we have no National Language and only have Official languages.
I guess If people can take pride of knowing hindi in most northern states of India, I think its only fair that the people of Karnataka and all southern states have the right to be proud of their respective languages

Learning the local language is the respect you give to the land that's giving you food, water and shelter.
There's no harm in learning and speaking the language.

The immigration officer didn’t ask him questions out of love for Kannada, it was a normal security protocol as there are lot of illegal immigrants in Bangalore/ India with fake documents. The officer didn’t know about Mr.Khan, being a millennial even I didn’t know about him until this happened. Mr. Khan could’ve easily handled it but he created ruckus on social media. By calling the officer uneducated, Mr. Khan made us feel that he himself is not educated properly. Modi thing was unnecessary too.
