3. Philippines WEIGHTLIFTING gold( as the gold medalist from Philippines came 4th in world WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP)
4.Indonesian badminton 🏸 winning ( as the Indonesian duo have never win any championship before)
5.Tunisia's gold medal in swimming 🏊‍♂️

You should also include Hidilyn Diaz of Philippines in Women's weightlifting. It is considered unexpected because she defeated the world champion. And also it is also the first gold medal of the country.

For me, an unexpected win was seeing Cuba beat China in canoeing during the Men's C-2 1000 metres. I was watching the race thinking "Oh great, another win for China", until Cuba edged out China during the final stretch. Cubanos really pull through and excel against the odds. So great to see Cuba win its first canoeing gold

A little correction, or specification perhaps: He's the first European men's singles player to get a gold medal in 25 yrs. Carolina Marin literally won Rio 2016 and became the first European women to win women's singles and the first singles gold medallist in 20 yrs for the continent
And, if you follow badminton, you know Viktor is the one to beat as soon as Momota out and Viktor is the top contender going into the Olympics. Chen Long is not the same guy with his 2016 self.
