Build quality is exceptional, waterproofing and dustproofing are welcome additions for those looking for such features, and the overall feeling you get while you hold or use the device is that you're operating a premium product.

The weakest point is the camera, in our opinion, and we hope Sony can improve it in the future. The display is much improved over previous Sony models and offers good results when viewed straight-on. However, the viewing angles are still not good, side-visibility is poor, and colors wash out.

This is the best review of Z1 I ever watched to be honest. I do like especially the way it is presented here. I love the scenes when you can see the phone outside or simply laying on a piece of a wooden bench (mix of technology and the nature), wherever in normal use conditions instead of watching it on a white background only which seems to be laboratory or similar place. The comment is also good, however I disagree with the photo quality, video needs to be updated still and this is a fact - 60fps would be welcomed, but the camera quality has improved with the newest software a lot. Best Sony phone ever, awesome quality, design, Walkman and camera. When it comes to the review itself, Sony should learn how to market its products (especially when I can see this washed out / grey wallpapers on a marketing photos = people still think the colours are washed out on Xperias) or simply hire this guy ;)

They only time (in general) that you need to open the flaps is when you connect it to a computer. the package comes with a charging dock that is connected to the magnetic Contacts on the side of the phone. The other case is if you are away and need to borrow a charger. The headphone jack is open too.

the only reason i dont want to switch from an iphone is to this is because ive bought hundreds of songs and apps and i dont want to rebuy items from the google store. is there a way around this?

Well, bezels on top and bottom do help you grip the phone comfortably when holding it in landscape especially when watching videos. It does also help in preventing accidental presses on the screen. With regards to handling, I think the issue would be how wide the phone is including the side bezels, and not from the top and bottom bezels. Side bezels aren't that huge to dislike, it's ergonomically designed that way. Top and bottom bezels are huge, but may be due to waterproofing. Can't blame it.

I can tell you, I've had my Z1 for two weeks and it is as fast as it gets. I might have encountered a bit of lag once or twice in one particular app (might just be the apps doing). In everyday usage, it doesn't lag a bit. It is the fastest phone I have ever held in my hand. If you want one, I recommend it.

Each reviewer may vary. I've tried the camera on the Z1 with the latest firmware and wow what an improvement over the very first firmware. Better than my Xperia ZL.

If I'm working and my phone is on the desk and I receive a notification, I just tap the power button to quickly see if it's important. I don't want to have to pick it up to get a direct viewing angle.

I recommend the Z1 (own one). It's a very snappy phone and if you are used to have the phone wraped in glass and aluminium, it should definately be your cup of tea. Plus the build quality is probably top 3 ever (can't see or feel a single flaw). You have to explore the market though a find the one for you. Good luck!

Im wondering if they sorted the screen cracking problems the Z had, my mate is on his 3rd one in a matter of months.

Have you used the phone? It does not lag at all. They are talking about lag at some Points, probably at certain (very few) areas. Go to your retailer and try it and let me know if you find any lag. Mine has lagged once in two weeks.

My Z1 C9603 dies before the day is over. :/ and thats with brightness turned down and usage through only half the day.
