How to Use the Suffix 'ish' | English Lesson

Here is a way you can sound more natural! Simply start using the suffix "-ish".

Click "CC" for English subtitles.

Adding "ish" to the end of words is something that native English-speakers do all the time, but it's rarely talked about in English textbooks or classrooms. Knowing how to use it can also help you when you don't know the precise word to describe something.

Examples: babyish, seventyish, smallish, whitish.

You can also use it on its own to answer certain questions! Watch to find out how!

This is my first time that I've watched your videos dear Max. I've liked two different things of this video . First, i've liked the lesson itself. Second, I've appreciated your facial gesture and your dimpled cheeks 😍

Thank you verry much!🙏
I really learn a lot, from your videos.
Your videos are always perfect because of some reasons..
1)You speak in perfect speed that all the non-natives understand it perfectly.
2)Your sense of humor is amazing! ❤
3)When you speak any new word, You define that meaning instantly, that it becomes easy for the non-natives to understand.
4)Editing of your videos are so well...
I'm not a judge, just a student of yours.😀
and just passed a comment..
THANK YOU MADAM!!!🙏

Hello Max! Regards from Brasil! I have watched some of your videos. They are the right lenght, humorous and carefully chosen. Congratulations on your sense of humour! By the way, I teach English here in São Paulo, a cosmopolitan and industrial city in the southeast of Brasil. Bye for now.

Thank you. I have a question. Can I add -ish at end of names? For example: Tarantinoish or something like that. If so, how could I add it?

"Ish" can also be used on its own to express disgust or disdain toward something, such as a foul smell. For example:
"Ish! When's the last time you cleaned the cat litter box?!"
