Guys, this is the plot of the film : Ebi ( Hero ) is a happy-go-lucky young man who is adopted as a baby to a multi-millionaire childless couple(SPB and some old lady ) in India. They love him dearly and is well taken care of like a son. He grows up to be a playful but famous and a popular ladies-man, unaware of his true origins. He arrives in Chennai for his college studies ( Entry song: Tham Tharikida Thom ) where he is welcomed to his hometown to his parents who loves him dearly. His parents and his grandparents live with high wealth and he does not need to work hard as most of his needs are taken care by his trusted servants. However, he is a good man who loves his parents and respects others. He is also constantly fascinated by the lifestyle of middle-class people. He arrives in college as a student and has a circle of friends ( Senthil and Vadivelu ). He then bumps into Simran. 2nd Song ( Alva Papa - Heroine Intro ) ..They don't get along initially well and squabble playfully which results in both of them falling in love with each other. (3rd Song, Tholaivinile).

At this juncture, enters Raguvaran, a businessman who is a stakeholder and acquaintence on Ebi's family business dealings. But Raguvaran in truth, operates shady illegal businesses for profit and is trying to cut a deal to steal Ebi's inheritance fortune. He also resents the attention Ebi receives despite being an adopted son. Ebi's gullible parents who view their reputation higher than anything else do not realise the shady side of Raguvaran. One day, Raguvaran proposes a business venture to Ebi's parents. But it is a false front to continue his shady business operations. However, Ebi senses something wrong with this, interrupts and rejects Raguvaran's bid and calls out his bluff. As a result, Raguvaran steps down as a stakeholder. This causes tension between Ebi and his family as they had considered Raguvaran's investment to be beneficial. However, Ebi ignores this and continues to enjoy his romance with Simran.

At this point, Ebi and Simran soon plan to get engaged with each other with his parents agreeing( 4th song, Adi Kanne ) But, his grandparents are not pleased as Simran does not have a wealthy status. During one of the days at a temple ceremony, Ebi and Simran are suddenly attacked by goons in the temple and he thwarts off an assasination attempt on him (Temple fight scene ). However, Ebi fights and chases the goons and manages to interrogate one henchman who reveals who ordered the kill; Simran's Father!. He is much confused but stays prepared. Later, to clear his suspicions, Ebi questions Simran about her father. Simran misunderstands this and assumes that he does not trust her, thus breaking up with him in a fit of frustration.

Heartbroken, Ebi spends at a bar drinking.( Item number with karishma kapoor ). Soon enough, Ebi realises his mistake and apologises to Simran. They both patch up. He also realises that Simran's father is an innocent man who is wrongly framed. It soon becomes clear to Ebi that the person who ordered the kill was none other than, Raguvaran! But Ebi decides to not reveal to his parents to avoid an argument. Meanwhile, Raguvaran plans to only make things worst for Ebi. Insulted and embarrassed by Ebi's earlier rebuff at him, Raguvaran decides to exploit Ebi's grand-parents weakness to prestige against him.

On the marriage day, Ebi and Simran are preparing for their big day when his grandparents, fuelled by rumours and gossips which are orchestrated by Raguvaran to frame that Simran is after Ebi's money and millionaire status, interrupts and vocally express their displeasure over him marrying a commoner like Simran. Several bystanders who are actually bribed by Raguvaran, embarrass Simran and alleged that that that she is only marrying him for money and that she may have even indeed brought bad luck to Ebi as he survived an assassination attempt on his life. Simran is hurt with these remarks at her. However, Ebi stands firm by Simran and goes against his family as all these comparisons over him and Simran are due to his identity as a rich man. Simran, not wishing to further damage the reputation of Ebi's family, decides to end the wedding. Adding more insult, Raguvaran enters the wedding hall and reveals to everybody about Ebi being an adopted son and not a true heir to the family. In return, Ebi also publicly reveals on Raguvaran's assassination attempt on him at the temple, though Raguvaran's counters it as a baseless allegation without proof. This results in an ugly argument between Ebi and his family members. Not able to believe Raguvaran's claim, Ebi confronts on the spot with his parents if it was true that he was adopted, to which his parents confirm and spill the truth. Deeply hurt at losing his love and shocked by the revelation, Ebi cuts ties with his family and sheds his princely life to live as an ordinary man, much to the anguish of his parents. He leaves his home with Simran, publicly humiliated. His mother hurt by Ebi's decision, refuses to speak to anyone.

Ebi adjusts slowly to his new life as a normal man without any millionaire status. However, he dearly misses his adoptive mother and father. He stays with his friends and works a job. He also gets disrespected by his own college peers due to his change in status. Although hurt, Ebi stays loyal to himself and Simran, and helps his college in many ways. He also understands middle-class people hardships. With Ebi out the way, Raguvaran now plots to move fast in his plan to claim Ebi's inheritance and his parents willpapers. At this point, Ebi's parents and grandparents finally start to discover Raguvaran's true plot and his shady business dealings to their horror, realising that Ebi was right all along.

With the climax, Raguvaran then kidnaps Ebi's parents and grandparents and threatens them to sign their will to name Raguvaran as the sole owner of their business empire, reasoning that he should be the rightful heir for their inheritance as he had done more for the family business, and not Ebi who was merely adopted and lived his life in luxury. However, they refuse to sign. He also reveals that he has sent goons at the college where Ebi studies, to kill him and make it look like a suicide. Unbeknownst, a loyal house servant overhears this and quickly informs Ebi of the situation. He immediately sends Simran to safety.

Not wasting time, Ebi quickly takes down the goons at his college and rushes to save his adoptive parents and grandparents who are held hostage. He manages to rescue his grandparents but is unable to locate his father. A chase scene occurs and Ebi reaches a shipyard where the final fight occurs. Ebi manages to gain the upper hand but gets injured and Raguvaran confronts him at gunpoint with SPB held hostage. Raguvaran mocks Ebi about his true origin as an adopted son and how he never belonged to their rich family. He also remarks that Ebi will never know who his real parents are and questions him why he wants to risk his life for people who are not related to him. Ebi tries to reason with him that with or without money, a man needs to be rich in his heart than wealth. But Raguvaran calls the World an ugly place and without money, life is meaningless and so too, a will without his parents. He then gives Ebi a choice; Give up Ebi's inheritance willpapers and name Raguvaran as the heir and then his Father is spared, or else, his death is certain. Ebi decides to give up his inheritance to Raguvaran. However, Raguvaran tricks him and shoots SPB in the chest. Witnessing this, Ebi emotionally calls out to his adoptive father who passes out. Full of rage, Ebi attacks and fights Raghuvaran mercilessly and emerges victorious. He is able to disarm him and but stops short of killing him at the last min, sparing his life.

Meanwhile, the police with the help of Simran, arrives and arrests the bad guys and Raguvaran. SPB is rescued and taken to a hospital where he is treated. Ebi's grandparents also arrive at the hospital and the doctor informs that SPB has survived. Everybody rejoices happily. In the midst of the rejoice, Ebi quietly walks away as he tearfully smiles, knowing his place as an outsider. However, his mother calls out to him along with his grandparents who apologise to him and ask him to stay with him. Everybody reunites along with Simran.

The director of this movie Nandhakumar spoke in Nakheeran. Apparantly they spent 1 crore for the Karishma kapoor song itself

90's era ... famous director, ... first director introduce his son during 90's itself.... very expensive movie during 90's itself....Simran now already married got kids, Karishma already married and divorce, Raguvaran sir no more, ...each of songs truely super...his son should try other movies...who knows if this film release that time...his son might be no .1 hero now... feel very sad....
