How did she not know she owed thousands in rent? That doesn't make any sense. I rent here in FL - every month I pay my rent electronically. I know exactly how much I owe and pay it on the 1st when it's due. How hard is that to do? If you can't pay the whole thing, work something out with your landlord. No one wants the hassle of chasing people down for money. If you can't pay, then you can't stay.

You know if you don't pay, you don't stay. Period. Pandemic or not, you got to work out a payment plan or something.

Government intervention with rent moratoriums is a factor as well. Many individuals decided to take advantage and not honor their lease agreement.

If the rent was paid there would have never have been an inviction. the court wouldn't have granted it.

It’s only fair for a landlord to know past evictions. Why would that be withheld? My mom was a landlord in the 60’s and 70’s . I saw first hand what not knowing what that person/persons she was renting to brought to her rentals! In other words, what they really were like under the veneer. I wouldn’t wish that trouble on anyone. One word to describe them is “shambolic.” It cost her a small fortune evicting them, and I will add, made her a very sick women!

What did they think was going to happen when they forced landlords to provide free rent to anyone who wanted it for two years? DOH. Why would anyone rent to someone who has been evicted?

If I owned apartments, I would rent to anybody if I could put a payment clause in the rental agreement that if rent is more than three days late, the renter agrees to vacate immediately and pay a thousand dollar fine.

Don’t buy stuff you can’t afford. Move out of state

If the rent money from the covid days was paid directly to the landlords instead of the renters, then they would still have a place to live. Instead, the governemnt rental funds was given to the renter who used it to buy more bling.

Why shouldn’t she be evicted? She didn’t pay! So what if the landlord finally got what was owed, she decided not to pay. I’d want her out too. And yes, housing providers deserve to see your rental history. If you don’t pay, they don’t want you. Why should they house you? This lady doesn’t have rent money but money for her nails and weave. She’s full of it.

THIS IS WHY I believe everyone should save money for emergencies, especially each year when income tax refunds is received!...Also, SAVE a certain amount out of your paycheck, retirement, income tax, etc...If this was done years prior to the PANDEMIC, AND especially now, ...LIKE some people did, then there'll be a nest egg or cushion for situation is different, BUT save something each month, etc..and DOWNSIZED, LIVE A more SIMPLE, DEBT free, HEALTHY, spiritual nothing like it!

If I was a landlord. I give her a place to rent. I would not run a credit check.

Wait so let me understand basically tenants were given the legal right not to be responsible for their signed legal contractual responsibility ?

Wait hold on again let me call my XYZ company where I have a legal contract and let them know the government will pay my bills on my behalf instead of bucking up and having a grown asz communication with my housing provider who is providing housing for me free of charge to discuss tenant outstanding balance.

Let's see here. She did not know she owed rent? She got the bulk of her rent paid for free by me. She stayed till eviction which caused the owner to spend more money. Now she wants her eviction secret the very reason that owners might not want to rent to you and now she has FREE LEGAL AID!!! What the hell have I been doing all my life paying my way?

The whole eviction issue is so damn ridiculous and a lot of comments aren’t getting it! She paid the landlord but the eviction still showed! My old apartment complex sold to another complex and accidentally put I had been evicted even though I just changed units. I could not get even a single place to live until it was resolved! I was automatically denied, explanations were worthless. The housing system here is subpar and that is why I refuse to bring children into it.
