Very strange that in a time of high tech, how come the US still refuses to use eletronic vote machines. There was an election in Brazil few days ago, when over 100 million persons voted, eletronically. The results were known very shortly. About 3 hours after the end of voting process, the country knew who won the presidential election. Very simple, secure and trustworthy.

If they still want to continue the paper ballet form of mannual voting, then i suggest they should make a 'cash counting' type of machine which automatically determines which person/party has been ticked on the paper . Train the machine based on AI.
Or simply learn from India - the electronic voting machine...
This way, the counting and results can be dealt with a day or 2.
