FIMI X8 MINI - AN UPDATE (NOT GREAT NEWS)

OK so not the best of starts for the FIMI X8 MINI, In this video I explore when the pro version of this drone will actually be released, and talk about a few issues with existing orders.

Today I have received my Fimi X8 Mini.
I am positive surprised about the built quality! The matt finished plastic looks great, feels sturdy and the hinges of the legs feel solid.
I did not hold a DJI Mini in my hands, but design wise I do like the Fimi (but that is personal). It doesn't look cheap st all.
I did only do a short maiden flight, because there was a lot of wind and the sun almost disappeared behind the horizon.
I will now study the app first and hope to make a longer flight tomorrow.
But so far I like it. Great controller also!

BTW, just to be clear I didn't cancel my order because there was going to be a 10 day delay, I cancelled because from past experience I knew that if I didn't get something from the first batch I'd be waiting for a couple more months (until June/July) or more to get a second batch drone. And that seems to be the case as Fimi clearly states on their AliExpress Store that a second batch of drones won't be available until May. Add in the 37day shipment time it's likely anyone who didn't get in the first batch will be waiting a LONG time for their Fimi Mini. The thing that pissed me off was the fact that they refused to cancel my order even after multiple requests. They repeatedly set the status from "Awaiting Cancellation back to "Awaiting Shipment" after every cancellation request without a reasonable explanation. They just kept saying we will "try" and ship your drone in a few days despite the fact that their website said no more drones until May. They clearly didn't want me to cancel my order but there was no good reason for denying my request.

In my eyes fimi is doing dirty marketing to look like the fimi x8 mini is much more better than the dji mini 2! This is why they say it's sold out "after just 5 days". If you are in marketing you know those tactically moves.

Fimi have been upfront with disclosure on the end of April delivery date & Pro battery being available later, for their Mini.
If you purchased now there shouldn''t be any surprises.

Personally, I'm waiting on the orange one to be released. My buddy that tests for Fimi says the orange one will be available with the pro battery in early june, so I'll be waiting for that! Unfortunately the standard battery puts it over 250g, which sucks for yall over in other countries..here in the US it is no biggie being over 250g, but its different in other places of the world

As a consumer I won't buy a product before it's been reviewed so if the battery isn't available until June then I will still wait and it won't be a huge issue for me

I noticed on my AliExpress order that fimi have been a bit sneaky, the 15 days extension they asked us to make on the order lands directly on may 1st. Labour day.. AliExpress says to expect orders to not to be fulfilled during 1-5th of may due to this holiday. I messaged fimi and they confirmed it, so expect at least another 5 days wait after the extended period before they send it out.

Oh no not great news about the fimi mini but if it's sold out it must be a popular choice. I do like a nice studio look. Keep going with it because it looks great, I got a nice arial shot of golden cap for sale that would look nice on the back wall 🤣

I can’t wait for your considered comparison of this FIMI X8 MINI to the MINI 2. Does it offer a worthy competition? Can it push Mini 2 out of the market? Only of course if it remains below 250 grams

I was quite early after launchtime (within half an hour) and ordered one. I did not get the mail/message that it was sold out that moment. Another person told me that he did.
So maybe I will get it pretty soon...
