The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

I always remember MCW, basically the only player whose first NBA game ever would be the best of his career. There are a few outliers like this in history, glad you highlighted some of them.

I would like to mention that Michael Adams that season was on the Denver Nuggets, coached by Paul Westhead. Westhead famously uses a version of "The System, " most recently popularized by Grinnell College. If you look at all of the teams that Westhead coached, specifically Loyola Marymount College in the 80s, you will see the absolutely ridiculous scoring numbers they put up. Michael Adams was put in a quick and high tempo offense in which he thrived in. Also notable, is that under Westhead's coaching, Orlando Woolridge put up over 25 points per game that year at age 31, and Walter Davis averaged an incredible 18.7 points per game at age 36. Although his Nuggets weren't good, Westhead coach the Lakers to their first championship with Magic and Kareem in 1980, and also winning a WNBA championship in 2007 with the Phoenix Mercury, making him the only coach in history to win both titles. Just thought this was an interesting bit of information!

Lin didn't receive any offers from big time colleges that would allow him to pursue his basketball career, so when he finished high school he decided to go to Harvard. At the end everything worked out just fine for Lin but his path from Harvard to the NBA was nothing short of a miracle. The fact that Harvard produced more US presidents than NBA players is just mind boggling for me 🤯

Linsanity ❤

You didn't mention that the Kings' incompetence and mismanagement of talent majorly contributed to Tyreke Evans' decline; they regularly switched his position between PG-SG-SF, gave him no concrete rule, and refused to either commit to his development or trade him and focus on someone else.

What about Brandon Jennings? Dude scored 55 points in a game his rookie year.

Would like to slide in Montrezl Harrel somewhere here, after winning 6MOY he's basically done in the league and is now just a bench warmer

Michael Adams had such a great year that he was mentioned in the Dream Team book as one of the players to be on that team

Don't forget about my myplayer in 2k. Averaged a 50 point triple-double as a rookie and then retired.

I think the platinum record 'Shaq Diesel' should count for this one hit wonder list.

Chris Kaman's lone all star season for the Clippers is worth an honorable mention I think. One of the more forgotten players of the 00s and 10s

I strongly believe if it wasn’t for Melo, Lin could have establish himself as an all-star level player or atleast close to it

Lin's story is why I hate Carmelo, he could have at least a good player by his side in the D'Antoni system, but his ego took over and it ended up ending Lin's career.

Lin’s run was almost immediately immortal. Whether you expected the falloff or not, I think we all knew we were witnessing something special and unique.
Awesome list!

Cool video, Jonny! As a Kings fan, I remember feeling so excited about Tyreke Evans and then being disappointed after his rookie season. It surprised me to see him to reach his ceiling so quickly. I too am not sure why. I've heard once that it may be b/c the Kings played him out of position at SF. While it is true that they did play him at SF later on, I am not sure if that is the cause.
Have a great week :)
