The wedding of the crown prince was in October 1810 and he wanted the folks to be part of the festivities so that was the beginning of Octoberfest (we call it "Wiesn"). Due to better weather conditions it was moved forward to start mid of September and ends on the first weekend in October. Nonetheless I remember three or four years celebrating while it was snowing!

I am from Lower Saxony but used to spent my vacations in Bavaria growing up. And from what I remember Bavarian people do seem more open and friendly than us. I think the more you get to the north, people tend to be more reserved and need some time before they put on a smile sometimes. So we might look a bit more like the stereotypical German. Of course it depends on the person you meet. But I feel like what he said about being open and willing to help is a general thing here. We love to help. And trying to speak a little German should always give you some bonus points. We like the effort and your interest in learning our language. 🙂

So it shouldn't be a surprise to you to find out that most of us are pretty nice, even if some of us look a bit grumpy or serious sometimes. Saying this as somebody, who always forgets to smile when people approach me. Afterwards I always think "dangit, I looked angry again". 😅

Not watching from Munich but close 😂 if you ever travel to Bavaria and try the white sausage, peel it first 😂 that's the most common mistake tourists make. LOVED the reaction. Greetings from Wuerzburg, Bavaria

He mentioned the 'English Garden' (Englischer Garten), which is not a garden but Munich's most popular park. And, yes! You might see some people sunbathing in the nude there. Not everybody does it but some do and although it might shock you, it's a non-issue there.

About the nudes in the English Garden: in the seventies (post period of flower power) they jumped into the Eisbach (ice creek) drifting down but then were too lazy to walk back. So they entered the tram / street car taking a ride back to where they jumped in. Although they had - of course - no valid tickets the public transportation company and the ticket inspectors turned a blind eye and tolerated the nudes. So this tells a lot about Munich and the locals: leben und leben lassen (live and let live) 😊

I´m from Munich ;-) there are so many places, he didn´t mention ;-) - but this would have ment to have a video of some hours or more.... ;-) ... naked people in the "English Garden"? Yes - at least "Garden" is some kind of understatement - it´s huge. Even larger than the Central Park in New York - and much safer.
