Let’s chat about dyslexia. I felt like I wanted to talk today. The reason I call myself dyslexic artist is because I a dyslexic and dysgraphia and wanted to share what I go through on a daily basis. You don’t grow out of it you just learn to adapt and live with it. It’s not about seeing things backwards. Dyslexia is a broad term. I am actually dysgraphia which means I cant’t hear certain sounds. Dyslexia doesn’t mean people are stupid or that they can’t read. It means they process information differently and can still become very successful people. They can read, it just takes a little longer. My favourite book is called, “The Brilliant Idiot” by Abraham Schmitt. He is dyslexic and writes about the struggles back in our day when dyslexia was so misunderstood. Abraham is a very successful Doctor.

I also wanted to practice drawing and talking at the same time. Usual I speak at the beginning and end of my videos because whenever I try to speak at the same time, I get so zoned into my drawing that my voice gets really quiet then eventually I just stop talking. Today I just sat and talked while drawing. I just drew without thinking and focused on the speaking. I think it turned out well this time. If anyone has questions about dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD and even cleft palate, please leave me a comment.

I hope this inspires you to be creative and express yourself through art.

Thanks for watching my videos and following me. If you’re not following me yet, please do so and please share with your friends. Please write me some encouragement in the comments if you like my art and videos. Please write any requests for what you would like me to make. Write questions if you want help with self doubt in your own life.

Lol loved the commentary!
I just had a thought: what if you were to draw some popular kid favourites? Like paw patrol or Pj masks ! Millions of kids would love to see their favourite characters being drawn!

I just started watching this video, but I’m already *very* excited to see someone on YouTube actually talk about dysgraphia in an art context!

I’m a young (mid-20s) artist & writer (typing-only) with dysgraphia; though I’ve made amazing progress with both, I went undiagnosed as a kid, & therefore struggled without knowing why nor getting any help/accommodation. As a result, I built a lot of bad habits just to get through mandatory hand-written assignments. Recently I’ve started trying to understand the condition better, but it can be a lil rough, as I also have ADHD & autism (kinda found out about all of these things at once, as did my dad & sibling, haha) so I can get lost in or fixated on random details.

… but uh, to bring myself back to the main topic here: I’m already really engaged just at the sight of your art & your introduction alone! I’ll edit this with thoughts on the video itself once I watch it. 🙂

Edit: This is an excellent video!!! I struggle to draw line work, but seeing you get through that whole drawing while talking about your experience with dysgraphia/dyslexia was really & inspiring — it makes me wanna work on my own work too (also, this was some awesome art in general)! Thank you for making a great video! 😊
