Such a sad life. He was so talented but his ending was so bad and it very sad

My understanding of late 19th/early 20th century British libel/defamation law was that losing a libel/defamation suit was itself per se libel/defamation. So, baiting Wilde to initiate a lawsuit would (almost certainly) lead to a second lawsuit AND a judgement against Wilde, more than he could afford.

That photo of him is amazing. He's such a queen, with huge IDGAF energy. I'm sure he was a handful to be acquainted with, to say the least. 👸

Wilde was very self-destructive, it didn’t have to go the way it did for him.

Wilde's reaction when some of his friends warned against suing was to say "it is at such moments as these that one sees who are one's true friends". So he not only shunned good advice, given out of love and care, he detested it and those who gave it. His judgement was so poor and self-destructive that it's difficult to square with his literary genius.
Framing this as a tale of homophobic vengeance is missing the point. Queensbury and his family were becoming a laughing stock; he was attempting to protect his reputation in an _age_ of homophobia. Wilde was a genius is writing and brainless in life.

Cannot blame that father of a young boy who much older man got his hands on . What was up with his wife?

But he was absolutely guilty. He should have stayed away from young boys, disgusting. He’s lucky the boys father didn’t do something much more serious.

Oscar was cruel and disrespectful towards his wife. He used that woman for financial security for himself and his lover. Life catches up with a person.

As in "Marquess of Queensbury Rules", like for boxing?

Wilde definitely wasn't the saint he's now very often portrayed, and would actually have served a much longer sentence if he stood trial nowadays.

There was a lot of pedophile and down low homosexual activity by men who had wives occurred in the 1880’s-90’s its really sad about the boys trafficked by the aristocracy. It shouldn’t be ignored or justified.

What he done with adults was his own business but he had a taste for young boys so I've little sympathy for him..

Oscar Wilde is one of my favourite authors. The story of his persecution for being a homosexual and later the disrespectful treatment of his grave always breaks my heart
