Arduino based counting scale with basic machine learning

Hi, thanks for making this video it was very helpful. I am working on a project that is similar but I dont really know what I'm doing so I was hoping you could help me. So I am trying to be able to figure out how to count the number of objects are on a flat surface. Use a load cell seems to be the way to go, but will it work if the object are spread out over a 4'x2' surface? Thank you!

Would it be possible to program this such that after setting the seed value it can give a “parts per minute” display?

I have a usage case where I feed put parts in the 200+ parts per minute range and need the verify the machine is outputting enough parts.

Maybe have it set up so it starts counting and calculating the parts per minute when it senses a part and stops from the last part sensed. So if I run the machine for 10 seconds or a minute it will give me a calculated value?
