"I was TOLD that I could do this!"
They're not following the training but are learning unlawful behavior from other cops.

If all these cops are "trained" this way then why do they conduct these tests on everyone anyway and if anyone declines they arrest them anyway without true probable cause.

Never ever agree to a roadside test...
most fail! Demand a blood test although it may cost you $. It's well worth it.

Back in 1996 when I became a DUI instructor, the first thing you did before placing the person in the position to start you asked if the had balance problems such as knee or ankle or inner ear.

I have neuropathy in my feet and lower legs plus both knees are shot! If I don’t have my cane or something to hold on to I couldn’t keep my balance to save my life! But apparently this low IQ cop would arrest me for DUI because of that even though I don’t even drink alcohol!

If you have one of these problems or issues, I would say that it would be a good idea to let the cop know that he waives his Qualified Immunity if he continues with the test. Making sure he understands that, and making sure it’s on a recording, or have him sign off on it.
Having that refusal would likely be as good as gold to a lawyer such as this!

I suddenly lost my hearing and balance signals on my left side causing me to walk a bit funny. If a police officer sees me walk to my car he will think I am drunk

In case y'all were unaware. The vast majority of Peace Officer training courses provide the answers/take the final test as a group. I was a patrol supervisor for one year before I figured out just how ignorant the average patrolmen was. I quit and walked away from a career I loved, miss the job everyday.

There are two outcomes when a cop asks you to do field sobriety tests: you either refuse or fail. Either way, you're getting arrested and your car towed. The cop will lie if need be to claim he saw "clues" that didn't actually happen.

Making DUI arrests gets a cop overtime and MADD awards and qualifies the department for NHTSA grants. There is no penalty to a cop for arresting someone whose charges are later dismissed or end in acquittal, and the arrest still counts towards his stats.

Cop knows better than any two-bit neurologist that any old codger with a broken leg and vertigo can still take the test fairly. And if Dr Neuro disagrees “Hey doc cmon down to the alley with me and I’ll change your opinion for you.”

They don't tell you that those roadside sobriety tests are not law. You don't have to do them. In most states a roadside breathalyzer is all followed by a test at the station on a more accurate machonr.

People with Concussions can't pass a dui test. I have failed 3 dui tests. Not one time was I drunk or high.
