The Dept of Education emailed me about student loan forgiveness in December 2023. They were saying that they, along with the Biden administration, have been working hard to roll out the plan but republicans were preventing them from doing so. That was the first time since 2020 that I’ve heard any mention of student loan forgiveness, especially since it was only used to buy votes 😂😂

Everyone hates that their tax money goes towards student loans, but the biggest offender of tax misuse is going towards wars we shouldn’t be financially supporting, and money for illegal immigrants. I personally want student loan relief, or even just an option to keep payments low. I really hope this doesn’t get blocked, and that the Supreme Court will approve at least some parts of it.

So-called student loan forgiveness is a bad idea from every point of view. It rewards irresponsibility, does nothing to address the primary problem of out-of-control college costs (indeed, it enables the system), passes the cost on to taxpayers who have their own bills to pay, and is totally unfair to people who managed to pay off their own loans or didn't go to college altogether because they thought better of assuming such a massive debt. Borrowers already got a THREE-YEAR break from making payments (which is more than mortgage holders got during the same pandemic), and that's consideration enough.

And spare me "The world needs educated people" because I couldn't agree more. Educated people accept the consequences of their own choices. What the world doesn't need are lawyers who don't know how to read contracts, or doctors and scientists and engineers who don't have enough math knowledge to understand how compound interest works. Thinking you made the world a better place simply by going to college is not the attitude of an educated person but of a spoiled, entitled child: I cleaned my room, Mom, now buy me a Toyota.

It's a mathematical challenge. 21.4 trillion dollars in debt at the end of 2020. Near 40 trillion dollars in debt at the end of 2024.😮 No administration has ever come close to spending this much. Funny how corporate greed wasn't a big issue before Biden. Funny how corporate greed supposedly got bad at the exact same time trillions of dollars were being printed out of thin air. Claims of price gouging don't prove it's a big issue. A declared number that represents a reasonable profit and actual financial reports that show an unreasonable average profit margin per sale would.
