Recreating Remy's potato leek soup from Ratatouille!

✨RECIPE 🐭🍲
Here's the recipe I made (not the official recipe from the movie):
⭐Ingredients:
- 2 tbls butter
- 1 cup yellow potato (chopped)
- 4 cups (one full container) vegetable broth
- 2 tbls garlic (minced)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 carrot
- 1 & 1/2 cup leeks (chopped and washed)
- 1-2 cups of heavy cream (to desired creaminess, I started with one cup and added more based on taste)
- 1 cup Shredded Gruyère cheese
- 2 tbls fresh parsley (chopped)
- 2 tbls fresh thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- chives (for garnish)

⭐Instructions:
1. In a big soup pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add the potatoes and cook about 5-10 minutes (until they start to golden)
2. Pour in broth and minced garlic (season with salt and pepper as you go). Add in carrots, and onions, let simmer for 5-10 minutes. Then add leeks, simmer for another 10 minutes.
3. Prepare to blend: using a strainer, try to remove as many of the the potato and leek chunks. Place the rest in a food processor and blend until completely smooth. Add both parts back into the large pot over low heat.
4. Add in cream, the shredded Gruyère, the spices (parsley, thyme, bay leaves) and stir and keep simmering for about 10-15 minutes. Remove the Bay leaves before serving into bowls.
5. Serve and garnish with chives. Enjoy! 😊

Anyone else notice that the soup starting off orange then being fixed is just like what happened in the movie?

As a French I can give you the real receipe : leek, potato, parsley and cream. NO carrots and use the white from the leek only. This is called Vichyssoise 😊. Greetings from France 🇨🇵
Edit : for a better taste, first cook the white leeks thinly chopped with a bit of butter and/or oil, when they start to be a bit transparent (translucide, sorry I don't know the word in English) add the potatoes chopped in cubes, boiling water, salt and pepper to your convenience and a cube of chicken broth. When the vegetables are cooked, mix with cream (heavy or liquid). Enjoy !☺️

Ratatouille is one of my fave Pixar movies as a cheffy person and I NEVER knew it was potato leek soup. Also I think it's kinda funny how in the og movie, the soup goes from orangey red to the light creamy color and that's exactly what happened with yours!😂 so cool how that worked out

Theres actually a theatre where each scene where they eat something, you can make it! I dont know what the ingredients were but I'm sure it was veggies!

One thing I haven’t seen anybody do yet is starting from the first orange soup, then turning it gross, and then fixing it using Remmy’s recipe. I’m not sure this is possible, but I’m just curious if someone can pull it off. Also, props to her for taking that step that Remmy took to fixing it. 😍😍

There is an official recipe ! In a disney cookbook I had as a kid, they had this soup. Potatoes, leeks, bouillon, onions, garlic, then whatever spices you want. You can serve it hot and unblended or cold/lukewarm and blended

I've made it before and it doesn't need carrot (to keep it white)

I believe his soup is more along the lines of a vichyssoise, except that Remy's is served warm instead of cold.
That's about the only difference that I can think of.
Your soup looked really good, though.

Blending carrots will also make things WAY more orange than you expect. The carrot pigment is powerful
