Marcus Aurelius was the true philosopher-king, born on 26th April 121 AD, making him 1901 years old if he was alive today. Although many people have created AI reconstructions of Marcus Aurelius, his contribution to the world of philosophy led us to create his avatar on his birthday.
His diary became the book, Meditations, which provides us with a critical understanding of the Ancient Stoic philosophy.
He was the last of Rome’s Five Good Emperors as he passed the throne to his son, Commodus, who was more of a Gladiator than an Emperor. Commodus’s death led to the year of the Five Emperors and started the decline of the Roman Empire.

In this #short video, we recreated her face using artificial intelligence and animation tools and imagined what he might look like when he was alive. These AI Tools include iClone 7 and Character Creator 3 of Reallusion and MyHeritage Deep Nostalgia. Marcus Aurelius (121AD-180AD) was born on 26th April 121 AD, making him 1901 years old if he is alive today.
We know Marcus Aurelius from his book, Meditations, which is a critical source for our understanding of the ancient Stoic Philosophy.
We used three of his statues to create the avatar of this ancient Philosopher Emperor, and the AI system found the statues easier to translate than portraits.
On finding personal strength, he offered us the following quote, “You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
On happiness, he famously wrote, “The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.” So by controlling how your mind thinks, you will achieve both strength and happiness.
However, Marcus Aurelius chose not to adopt a capable heir like his predecessors, allowing his son Commodus, who was his complete opposite, to succeed him as Roman Emperor.
The debauchery during Commodus’ reign ended in the chaos known as the year of the five emperors. Never trust a system allowing power transfer purely on bloodlines, even from a perfect philosopher.

Marcus Aurelius is still one of the most influential writers of Stoicism. By studying his deed and reading his diaries (published as the Meditations), we can clearly understand Stoicism. How did he pass his power to Commodus, as he surely knew that Commodus was not the right candidate? Was the movie Gladiator correct in assuming that he would give the position of Emperor to someone else but could not do so as Commodus murdered him? However, this is contrary to what the previous Good Emperors did, as they designated and trained their successors early on to ensure that there was no debate as to who will succeed. Or was the Stoic method not able to secure good successions, as we saw Nero taught by Seneca and Commodus trained by Marcus Aurelius? There are many questions we can ask while we read the writings and deeds of Marcus Aurelius.

I think this should've been voiced by someone with a Roman esc voice, such as those in Ryse: Son of Rome, Rome 2 Total War, etc.
