The one thing nobody speaks about is actually Kushieda in this scene.
Imagine feeling a bit nervous and unsure because your friend told you, your crush is ready to stay a night outside if you don't show up. Of course some thinkin and inner turmoil later you dress up and go see what progress you make.
Then you stumble upon your very best friend, one you'd give your life for, crying out the name of your crush with so much anguish.

It snapped her just like us, she immediately decided that she will break it off, she was hurt while doing it too, didnt want to show him, her eyes and she didnt walk away, she ran off, you could tell that a few more seconds and she'd start crying and no wonder, it didn't simply all land with her at that moment, the night she spent afterwards mustve been awful.

This emotional complexity is why i consider Toradora my literal top 1.

The animator behind this scene, whoever they are, masterfully depicted Taiga's conflicting emotions at 1:02.
The tragic tears mixed with a brief hint of a smile from her realization that she loves Ryuuji, and immediately a grimace at what she realized she had done. She thought she'd given up her chance to express her feelings before she lost him. She had just betrayed herself without realizing it.
I want this era of quality anime to come back, but with the more conclusive endings of today. No romcoms feel this heart-wrenching anymore.

This scene always breaks me, I know its coming everytime but considering this is the moment Taiga finally accepts her true feelings, it just hits on a new level after everything they been through.

Just finished watching Toradora for the third time. Such an amazing anime. Always manages to get me. I love every single character.

Just discovered this anime series yesterday and finished it just not too long ago. It really brought up really deeply buried feelings that I’ve had for this particular woman. A person that I’ve loved since we were little. But as the teacher said in a later episode, life doesn’t always go the way we planned it.

Toradora is the be all end all for Rom com Anime's. The sheer depth of character motivations and the thousand different meanings in every phrase is simply amazing. On top off all that, you barely notice because the story is consistently moving forward with good plot points and even better humor, all the while peppering in gems like It's simply a masterpiece that I wish I could see more of but also feel that anything further would ultimately pale in comparison to what I've already seen and enjoyed.
