I tried this technique 40 years ago, then my truck, developed COPD, emphozemia, nicotine poisoning, before finally succumbing to a painful, languishing death from intake cancer. Never again.

Brake boosters often leak, so you should blow smoke into the the intake with a makeshift adaptor and also turn the key on to activate solenoids and valves to be sure you're testing all the lines.

I could imagine mommy coming home to kid trying to explain to her him and his friends aren't smoking a blunt.... They're just trying to find the leak!

Got the same lean engine, misfiring problem on my 04 Celica. Runs pretty good after I've picked up speed, but acceleration is a little slow and rugged. Going down the laundry list of possible fixes. So grateful for videos like this on youtube!

I found a rubber cap on my vacuum tree that a pressed on and it disintegrated. Replaced it still runs crappy but I don't know if the computer needs to remap mixtures because it was such a slight leak

Try a soldering iron into mineral oil. Glass jar with lid. Epoxy the soldering iron through a hole. Epoxy an entry and exit tube. Use a bicycle pump to inlet and exit to brake booster tube. Light the mineral oil with the soldering iron, it creates a lot of smoke. Pump the pump and away you go. $20 to $30. But I think I will try the blowing smoke. Weed would be worth a shot. Happy repairs.

When he unhooked the boost line, I heard air moving, so if there's a leak, wouldn't it not do that? Ima finish watchin' and find out.

Noticed the MP5 strut bar so quick, lol. Have an identical one (red also) on my Ford ZX2 (similar chassis, bolt-on)

Sometimes you get a vacuum leak from your brake booster get the diaphragm inside has went bad brake boosters can go bad my suggestion is take the hose off the motor reduce the hose size and put a vacuum gauge at AutoZone and other parts stores you can buy a vacuum bleeder that you use for doing brakes but you have to reduce the size of the hose down so you can pet vacuum on the line going to the brake booster a lot of people don't check to see if the brake booster is bad one indication that a brake booster is bad when you put on the brakes and you hear a wishing noise like air whooshing noise the diaphragm can be broke and allow are into the system also also you need to plug off the exhaust system use a couple latex gloves and some duct tape plus also when you put smoke in the system it's going to come out the intake on your intake manifold all the way to your air filter but if you tape up the intake with a glove and some good tape you can do a better test when you go to do a smoke test on a vehicle you have to seal up the exhaust and intake on the vehicle hope this information has helped you

So your cR theew to rich to lean codes with misfires as well. My c300 2010 4 matic sport is sending the same codes.
I replaced the maf sensor /filters
Fuel injectors
Spark plugs and oxygen sensors
Still throwing those misfires and to rich to lean codes
Im thinking now definitely a vacuum leak. BecUse i can hear the hisss and when idleing it sputters .

Should of used a barb splicer to connect the two hoses so no smoke leak from that point.
