Vacuum leaks can be a big paint. Troubleshooting is never easy and the best tool - a smoke machine is rather expensive. Here is my DYI vacuum/boost leak find on a budget!

I want to thank you for this video, never thought of the aquarium pump, didn't want to bother with compressor, air pumps, soldering irons etc. This is super simple.

Ingenious! Find the leak and clean the engine at the same time!

this is great for most cases but yesterday i found a massive leak at my injector o ring that only leaks past 3-4 psi, this is why its important to add the same psi as the turbo puts out because you want to stress the system the same.
i was stumped because everything was pointing at massive boost leak yet i could blow into the tester and plug the tester with my thumb then aftyer 20 seconds i release and hear a loud "pshhhh" as the air left my tester telling me i had no leaks, it was only once i added psi did the leak appear.

from now on im all about stressing the system and pumping psi

👍👍👍 Excellent idea. One of those car tire inflation pumps would work also with a football adaptor and the bit of extension hose.

It’s a lot more fun and cheaper still to just smoke something and blow it into the tube!

How do you know all of your valves are closed when you do this job? Wouldn’t it be likely at least one cylinder would be open? The vacuum would just escape out the exhaust potentially.

Good idea! But still hard to locate a leak.

Good afternoon my brother,

This is good video content I like it. I subscribed to your channel because your helping out diyers that want to save money, diagnose and repair their vehicles from home.

Towards the beginning of the video I saw that you connected one side of the clear hose to the port on the aquarium air pump. Where did you connect the other side of that clear hose to? Cause you don't zoom in and show that part.

Stupid question is the car running when you are testing? Thank you
