How to Snake

After "Enter the Snake: Twist of Fury" started going viral, people have been asking to learn more about "the snake." Here's a basic intro to the snake that hopefully is helpful and inspires some creativity. This was a video segment from UTT (Ultimate Table Tennis... the Indian premier TT league).

how important is the rubber when it comes to this shot? I mean, seeing it from my laptop, it didn't look like you whipped the wrist too much, but the amount of turn the ball gets after it hits the table is insane. In addition to that, you also deceive the opponent by moving your hand in the opposite direction after hitting the ball. I have been trying it, but I can't do both things at the same time. If I try to deceive, the ball doesn't get much spin. If I try to add more spin, I fail to make deception look convincing enough.

TUTORIAL ON HOW TO DEFEND THE SNAKE:
- Duck and look to the opponent from bellow the table. Then, you'll know to what direction the spin is applied.

Adam, you could make a video showing this defense.

I have found a way to do this above table. If you do it quick enough it looks like you put forespin on it when you actually put backspin on it and it keeps speed. Don’t know if it’s an actual shot but it is very effective

You can even make the motion in the same way the spin goes sometimes so that the opponent thinks the spin is going the other way :P
