Honda needs a modern v65 Magna. It's a shame they discontinued the magna an absolute shame my number one favorite bikes.

I had a 1982 Honda V45 Magna in San Diego about 1990-3. After the passing of my mother, I needed to get out alone and think. The bike was perfect for that. I took solo trips up the Coast Highway, and to the Grand Canyon. My brother had a V45 Sabre, and we drove down the Baja coast together. I also commuted to school and work daily in SD traffic. Only bike I've ever ridden. I haven't ridden any motorcycle since selling her. I miss that bike. Your video really brings back memories--that sound, especially when you're accelerating up to highway speed. I took the baffles out to make her loud! I never raced. I was a cruiser at heart. My brother raced his Sabre with the same engine.

These boys don't know about the monster Honda made in the V45. And when they stuffed it into a middleweight cruiser? Best all-around bike ever. Tour it, cruise it, drag it, race it, commute with it, leave $20k Harleys in the dust for fun, whatever.

Not sure how big you are but the vex rider was 2 people in one, which makes a huge difference. I seen a VTX 1800 tuned with a programmer and cold air intake and it was a monster. I had a stock M109 R and it pulled away from me like I had hit my brakes. A guy riding with us had a generation 1 V Max and at 150 the old X was still with it. Take off was limited on the VTX by the low rev limiter, but from 2nd on, it was a beast of a motorcycle. I’ve had a stock VTX before my 9 and the 2000cc Kawasaki after that. Years earlier I’ve owned the DOHC CB 750, GoldWingsfrom 1100 to 1800cc, but my favorite bike of all still is the VTX 1800. Just does everything well and will eat both the V45 and V65 Magnas alive on high gear roll one, rode with them as well. Love the Magnas, love the inlines and the Goldwings, but the freakish torque the VTX has is addictive, though the 9 was a freakish beast itself but that is another story. Nice Magna you have, be safe!!

2 of my top 5 bikes. Both have classic styling. The Magna has a little 70s chopper look. The VTX reminds me of a Heritage Soft Tail but with more horses and that smooth Shaft Drive. Ride on!

Owned and enjoyed both of these great bikes, but not at the same time. Always wondered which was the fastest. Thanks for sharing.

Put many miles on my Magna. They are absolutely the best bike for comfort and performance combined. After 50 years of riding, the Magna was the best of many bikes I owned (including several sport bikes) but I'm selling it and retiring from bikes. My Porsche has become more fun (and safer) to ride and smokes bikes in the curves. Thanks for the fun video but you guys who ride without helmets are nuts!

I enjoyed this video. I used to ride a 83' v45, 84' v65 & 86' vt100. So both bikes in this video are fun to see out on the road! be safe.

Kudos to the bike builder from Japan and for applying it's engineering prowess with knowing the American rider and the riad environment in which he operates!

I had a 1983 V45 and it was so much fun! I bought mine in 85 and nothing in those days could keep up with it except its big brother the V65.

I had an 83 V-65 Magna. That is the 1100cc engine Magna. Stupid fast bikes. No way in hell an 1800 is going to touch a Magna.

I have been a fan of the Magna most my life. I was in my early teens when Honda aired the famous V65 drag strip video. Few years later I got a v45 loved that bike. I traded for a V30 which honestly surprised me how fun it was. That said I’ve only owned first Gen magnas. I got on the sportbike craze of the early 2000’s owning a few very fast bikes . That said now in my 50’s I keep looking at the Last Gen Magnas. I’m only 5’7 145 lbs and the low seat height cruiser appeals to me. Cheap in the market and honestly new bikes just are overpriced. Enjoyed your video!

I love the Magna! Wish I had one. Almost bought it some 15 years ago, but life got in the way. Maybe one day I'll get one for my boy to ride alongside me.
