Whether or not you enjoy this show, you have to admit the cinematography is absolutely stunning. Every shot could be a painting.

Dear God the cinematography in this show, the part where the Lincoln memorial reflects in June's eyes, the way the handmaid's follow suit with June when she sits. It feels like it's demonstrating how much influence she has on them.

The contrast in what part of the face is covered for women in Gilead, could not be more stark . We see that handmaids have their mouths covered thus symbolizing handmaids ability to see but not speak. Wives on the other hand have to wear a veil which only covers the eyes symbolizing the wives ability to speak but not to see. So that alone begs the question, Who is the more oppressed ? a woman who sees all that goes on around her but has no voice ? Or the woman who can speak but is blind to the reality she is living in . Pls share your thoughts !!!

Even as a Scotsman watching this? I've walked down those steps. Marvelled at the beauty of America's independence and felt the strength of its people. It just sent an extra wave of sickening disbelief at what I was watching. Truly breathtaking.

The power in this scene to me...was that although Offred was Mr. Waterford's Handmaid, and a high Commander, the "leader"of the scene...the Handmaid's didn't kneel upon his word, Mrs. Waterford dare not speak...but it was June. They followed June. Had she not knelt, they wouldn't have. The hundreds of them. Their capes flowed like blood and sweat they put into living the lives they did. Beautiful; and sickening .

The Waterfords were filming first with June without the veil. Then she talked to the Swiss and told them she wants Nicole to stay in Canada. Then she had to participate in another filming, this time with the veil. This sends out a good message.
