Trump's Top VP Choice Elise Stefanik Wasn't Always MAGA

"As House GOP conference chair, Rep. Elise Stefanik has been the third-ranking member of the House Republicans since the ouster of Rep. Liz Cheney from the spot. She is also a top Donald Trump Republican, who is even reportedly on his short list for 2024 running mates. But, the New York Times revealed on Saturday, things were not always so.

In an extensive feature article headlined “The Invention of Elise Stefanik,” NYT reporter Nicholas Confessore writes about the GOP leader’s migration from the Paul Ryan moderates to the “ultra-MAGA” hard right.

“I am Ultra-Maga, I’m proud of it,” Stefanik said in May of this year. Confessore describes it as “one of the most brazen political transformations of the Trump era.”

I'm ashamed to admit that Elise Stefanik is my district's representative in Washington, DC. I have never voted for her, and I never will. Especially when she waltzed into my place of employment and told my bosses to cut my hours so I wouldn't be eligible for overtime pay. Just to score political points against Governor Andrew Cuomo. What a backstabber! I wish my neighbors would wake up and vote blue. But I'm not holding my breath. After generations of loathing the Big Apple, my neighbors would vote for Hitler rather than a Democrat. But I'll continue to fight the good fight.

I live in Stefanik’s district. She is certainly playing the game for power. She’s not in a position of public service to actually serve and represent her constituents.
