Welcome to Marrakesh! We spend the day within the endless alleyways of the historic Medina quarter of the city.

From often ruthless snake charmers, street sellers and the constant backdrop of the Atlas Mountains, it’s an immersive feast of a city.

You should not indulge those snake charmers - it's cruel and harmful to the snakes, it inflicts severe physical and psychological distress on them. They physically abuse them - defang them, destroy their venom glands, etc. Disgusting and barbaric.

The guy selling tea told you 80dh (around 8$) for the gunpowder tea box and it sounds reasonable since tea is imported from China so it will always be relatively pricier. You could’ve brought it down to 60dh. And the other dry herbs are local roses and lemon verbena. They should be around 20dh a box. He was trying to explain to you that you should mix both to make an herbal tea.

Hey Freddie I might be one of your only Moroccan fans, I'm glad you finally visited my country (I was part of one of Thursdays at dobs's, bandit 1250s owner) .Let me tell you that you came just at the perfect time nothing beats Morocco at this time of the year the sky gets magical in the evening, coffe and tea taste so good when it cold .The backdrop of the Atlas mountains both from Ouarzazate and Marrakech is quite a spectacular view the beautiful red walls and green threes with the white backdrop AHHH so good .
Enjoy !

In April 2019 we spent a week in Marrakesh staying in the same area of the city so this video has brought back a lot of memories.

I’m watching this report in my small town in snow covered and freezing northern Illinois, USA. I am envious of your experience. I am also wishing that I was not too old to join you, but the reality of the matter is my best days of adventure are over. That’s not a complaint. I’m happy to have my memories just as you are collecting yours. Keep going, don’t stop until you’re out of money or can’t move any more. Things like your tea pot become sacred in a few decades. Well done. Keep safe.

Nearly 40 years ago. Same place. Looks the same. I'm sure it isn't, but it sure does look the same. Thanks guys. We haggled over a unique dagger in a sheath for AGES. Bought one (I still have it) thinking what great hagglers we were, walked out of the alley into the square, and there were literally dozens of the things for sale on mats. And yep. So cheap. Good luck with your teapot!! :) All good fun!! And yes, you will have it for ever. Travel safe both of you.

Many thanks to Monika for the video taking and the production as well. The music chosen and the clever camera work make these videos so professionally done. Even the viewing of the Jeep as it starts a journey, moves around while you are outside make a real natural documentary of your travels together. We do miss seeing you in the camera lens - a short snip in accommodation with the camera on a tripod, your lovely flowing locks over your back... Graeme NZ

Freddie, I truly do not know where to begin.
Such a great vid.
[ I'm very envious of you and Monica visiting the mighty Atlas mountains ].
Sure, you no doubt edit the vid. but, my word, you are a terrific plain speaking wordsmith and like the charmers, I find your presentation compelling to watch and listen to.
Anyway, enough of my gushing compliments, take care and I'll catch your next instalment. 👌

Freddie please be careful if you’re planning to cross the atlas tomorrow. I advise you to leave after 10:00 am when visibility is good. There are reports of some snowfall these days and icy temperatures. So beware of slippery roads and don’t drive after sunset. Keep some warm blankets with you in case the tichka snow barrier is in place. Some 15 years ago i got stuck at the snow barrier. Traffic was blocked for some 14 hours. Keep an eye on the weather forecast and traffic forecast. Take care
