John Bonham had one of the best bass drum sounds EVER!

I love John Bonham and Led Zeppelin. The drum sound is absolutely iconic and I love trying to replicate it. I have an old Ludwig 26" bass drum the 70s that I had restored and I'm always experimenting with different methods to get that sound. I love that drum so any time I get to use it is an absolute blast!

Bonham used the heaviest drumsticks and No One has ever been able to hit a snare drum as hard as him- he could make it sound like a bass drum

A Ludwig kit. I’m no drummer, but I produce music and really love that 70s drum tone. Every drummer I love from that era Nick Mason, Mick Fleetwood, Ringo, Neil Peart, and of course Bonzo all primary used a Ludwig with a suprophonic or black beauty snare. It cost me like $7k to get that kit but man it was worth every penny. You hardly even need to mix the kit because of how good and natural it sounds. I feel like they get overlooked nowadays for some reason.

Agreed, playing alng with him is how my right leg got so quick( triplets, triplets, triplets), and effing powerful. You hardly ever had to mike my kick

Do you have the base tuned high or low? I've heard John Bonham tuned his bass high, but it doesn't really sound like it to me.
