IXL Algebra1 - S.17 Write Equations in Standard Form

"Standard form" depends on who is defining the "standard.
In general standard form for linear equations usually looks like:
AX + BY = C where A, B and C are integers.
In IXL they insist that A (called the leading coefficient) is positive and that A, B, and C have no common factors ... for example

5y = 5x - 10
you would add -5x to both sides and get:
-5x + 5y = -10 which would be standard form (usually)
IXL insists that there can be no common factors and the A has to be positive.
The one step that would solve both problems would be to divide all terms (both sides) by -5.
x - y = 2.
