IOP | Who Is Deeya Mithadda? - Inspirational Overview

Показать описание
"I am a Wakka Wakka/Gangulu man from Central Queensland carrying my father’s name Andrew Toby. I grew up in an inner-city suburb where my cultural heritage was denied. As I grew, experienced life and explored I was blessed with knowledge and wisdom imparted from elders of the North, South, East and West of my country, Australia. Using this knowledge along with my natural creative gift I’ve been able to develop a unique style of dance expression, which is traditional contemporary lyrical hip-hop. Developing my style of fusion has created opportunities through dance for me to engage and empower young people in Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Seeing this, elders in Woorabinda were able to identify a powerful connection between my dance and spirit. They blessed me with a strong traditional Gangulu name, Deeya Mithadda which translates to 'dance spirit'.
I have chosen to portray my talent through a dance album. This will create a different dimension for the audience to engage with on a spiritual and emotional level. My dance is intended to inspire feeling and reflection of oneself. Seeing this will allow them to stay connected throughout the journey". - Ballaneba
