What Are The Signs Of Getting FIRED!

In this video, I will show you four signs that you might be getting FIRED! Most people are at least somewhat surprised when they hear the words "you're fired." Some are even shocked.

But upon looking back on the situation, almost everyone realizes there were signs — they just chose to ignore them. Below are four signs that you might be next to getting fired:

1. Your Boss Starts Putting Everything in Writing
2. You Get Removed From (or, Left Off) Projects
3. You’re Put on a Performance Improvement Plan
4. People Start Acting Quiet or Weird Around You

This video will give you some of the warning signs for you to pay attention to so you can see the writing on the wall.

I'm such a rebel. I knew the signs at my last job and I hit them with a curve ball. I cleaned out my office completely and my boss was soo shocked and asked why I did that. I didn't respond to him lol. I also signed up for FMLA which gave me 90 more days of paid leave until I found a new job. Sometimes you have to let them know that you are not afraid of them.

I still think there is a difference between being fired and laid off. Being fired hurts. Being laid off they can call you back and can mean the company was just looking to cut corners. Being fired means your boss wants you gone and to never come back. But I agree when you say either way you can't go back because the company won't let you.

At the end of the day this is the cost of doing business, when you don't sign your own check and work for yourself, at least then you will be in charge of your own destiny not your employer

I can't believe I found this video right after I quit my job at a nursery. Initially I loved the job and I didn't complain and I was also a high performer. Everyone initially loved me and greeted me daily. But the longer I worked there, the longer I began to feel like I just couldn't take working there. I begin to notice my coworkers were acting different and strange, I also noticed that I'd request more training in other areas and my manager would never actually lend me those opportunities. I also noticed that everyone at the job began to get distant from me. Long story short, my inner radar was telling me to get out of this job about the third day I worked there and I ignored all the red flags. I felt as if that no one really wanted me there nor liked me and it was all fake and games. Then the moment the idea to actually quit and explore other options came, that's when my manager began to micromanage me and complain about every little thing that I did. She was the devil in disguise, or otherwise, a wolf in sheep clothing.
Just say I was in a greenhouse and there's two sides of the greenhouse along with two water hose (a hose for each side of the greenhouse). Lets just say I take the hose from the other side of the greenhouse, she'd make a serious face, "You took my water hose. Then would turn it around with some fake positivity and say "It's all right I'll get the one from the other side!"
Or one day she lashed out on me because I had plants too close to a control box. But Initially I didn't put it there, my superviser recommended me that I should utilize as much space in the greenhouse as I can. When she conversed with my superviser about it, I noticed she was acting as if she was actually angry.
Basically she got angry over any little thing I did, which any of those things didn't really matter nor negatively impacted the business in a harmful way.
The moment you feel like they don't like you, the moment they don't and what I learned is that if someone doesn't like you it DOES affect you because once someone thinks bad about you, they're going to invest in that and when someone doesn't like you it DOES affect you rather we like to admit it or not. Your day to day interactions will become even more challenging especially in the workplace.

You are absolutely correct . I saw all four signs and felt it, but I didn't realise where it was headed. ...atleast you are kind enough to explain it. ... being laid off does not feel good at all. Everyone suddenly believes something is wrong with me. No one understands how it feels. I even started thinking of myself as a failure😥. It has not been an easy feeling months, but I don't intend to stay down. I'm doing all I can to be back and playing right.

When I got fired almost a year ago before the pandemic I was never given any warnings. The company I worked for ambushed me. I was fired because I was not a good fit. They also sabotaged me.

Early June 2008, I had several projects that were taken away from me from the director of the program (five in total) and reassigned to the reception desk. Then on June 10th, I was being informed during lunch-time that I was being let go. She claimed it was due to budget cuts than the real reason I was being terminated. Over the course of my time there, we had butted heads and she wanted me to know if I wanted to stay or leave and knowing that if I left voluntarily, I would have lost receiving unemployment benefits.

Great no-nonsense video and it's all so true.

Got fired very recently and as much as it hurt, I felt it coming but didn't proactively do anything about it, so I'm definitely to blame for my bruised ego. I was on a PIP without being told what a PIP was or that I was on one. I had one big slip up a couple weeks ago, a bunch of little things that had happened in my time there came to light, and a week after my mistake, they were sending me out the door. One of the warning flags I would like to mention was when they had an outside hire fill my manager's role after my first manager had left. There were plenty of competent people that had been in the department for years and seemed to be ready to move into a managerial role. Right off the bat, that seemed fishy and I should've left as soon as that happened. As the new regime took charge, I had the feeling that they were going to clean house and rebuild the department to their liking. I was the first to go but I think I was the first of many and I expect I'll hear of more soon unfortunately. I wish I had seen this video before this all happened. I experienced every sign to a T and chalked it up to me being paranoid. I'll learn from this whole experience and move forward, but remember to look out for your own before anyone else. If you feel bad leaving your understaffed department, or that you need to prove your loyalty, or whatever reason you can come up with, it seems they will kick you to the curb without a second thought if you're not to their liking.

I wish all you good luck in your careers, and if yours has also come to a sudden halt, things will eventually begin looking up and tomorrow is always a new day.

Too funny! While it's not a fun topic, there's also not much need to sugar coat things but a sense of humor is a must!

In my case though, none of these happened. My boss didn't put anything in writing, I wasn't removed from projects (actually I was on several high-profile projects up until the day the department was let go), no PIP, and people didn't act weird around me (as most of the company was shocked by the news). What did happen that tipped me off was that people in key support roles left the department/company and their jobs were put on hold and not backfilled. Ding, ding!

Darnell, terrific video. Great no nonsense advice. Been on both sides, had to left a couple people go years ago. No direct reports in a long time. One layoff, one firing years ago and current job is up in the air. Shortage of staff, increased “goals” with a 25% higher work load than last year. May end up on an “action plan” (pip). Will be polishing my resume. Try to survive, will have to see. Worst case scenario I would drive Uber for a while and dig into savings until I found something else. It would suck, but I have survived before.

I know someone who was put on on s 30 PIP plan and received positive feedback through the duration. At the end of the 30 days was immediately put on another 30 day PIP. This time there was feed back and the person was terminated.

I would also add that if your boss suddenly starts having you do ridiculous and useless work tasks repetitively and tells you that's your "special project" then that's also a sign because along with your regular duties your now "slammed" doing stupid stuff..I felt like I was getting ready to get canned as soon as they hired someone else without mentioning it to me and then started doing everything different then how I was trained. It was an awful place to work. I just didn't expect they would have done it right at the holidays, but oh well I have a much better job now. Good video Thanks.
