“The writings on the wall” is correct. I worked in the photographic and display profession for nearly 50 years, photoshop’s days are numbered. Two reasons. There are becoming more and more AI & graphics editor sites on the web, many free to use. Photoshop is pricing itself out of the market.
I saw so many changes in photography & display, so many companies fade away to be replaced.

Good stuff Colin. Watching this video was the first time I learned about Generative Credits, but I am 100% certain we are going to have a lot of people both upset and confused about it. There several posts on the Adobe forums about it already. Even if you don't check 'Remove Previous Version' with major updates, in Windows at least, your plugins, and workspaces will still be there in \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023\... Newer plugs seem to migrate to Photoshop updates, but older ones like Flaming Pear, and Redfield Fractalius get left behind. These didn't come with install files, but rather just as .8BF files that we have to put in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024\Plug-ins folder. So what I have done for several years now is to keep the .8BF files in a My Docs folder and move a shortcut to that folder to the new plugins folder.

Your assessment of how things are going to go squares with mine. I think we will see us using the lower res generations to get us to where we want to go and then have to pay more - fairly - for getting a high rez image.

I see me rarely using generative fill and it would mostly be expand, so I'm not, nor was I overly concerned with the nickle and dime prospects.

Ah, yes. The goold old pay for the program, then pay extra for it's features. What happens when most users don't even scratch the 250? Will they reduce it to 50 in another announcement? And what about the 10+ faulty AI messages that tell me i broke the rules AFTER it tried to generate? Will that be credits spent as well? As a non-professional, i won't renew my 1 year plan.

Please note, the resolution is still 1024, not 2k

Thanks for clearing this up! Nobody else is letting you know what the credit system means or what happens when you run out.

Heh.... I still have PS CC2019 on one of my older machines. I kept it for the 3D features it has. I still use it quite a bit with my older Cintique. I have 2023, 2024, and the Beta on this machine. I think I might keep the Beta for a while, just for giggles... Good info as always, Colin! 👍👍

I don't know what they changed in the Remove tool, but now it's much slower than before

Excellent summery, again. There are a lot of channels focused on Adobe productivity programs but yours is the one I go to for the most easily followed due to being concise and logical so it is all making sense the first pass. One channel I love the skills displayed but goes too fast to absorb processes that are rather advanced, so end having to rewind to repeat a section only to find it needs an extra cost add-in.
I use Photoshop 30% of the time, and Lightroom 65% of the time because almost all my work is portraiture, since my clients are primarily actors updating their portfolios the images must be identifiable as the same person who answers the casting call. In my fine art work I can get more creative.

Thank you for your informative well presented videos!

All good stuff, Colin, but mt issue is different and maybe you answered it with going back to 2023 or 2022 versions. I use Photoshop mainly for editing my photos for paintings, Rearrange a few things, crop to size, correct color and sometimes change a sky. Photoshop 2024 has become a nightmare for me. It freezes in the middle of a process, or jumps to "Save As" way before I am ready and sometimes only allows me to save work in the cloud and not on my computer where is is readily available. It has also slowed my entire computer down, and yes It was checked by Adobe and a repair shop for enough RAm and room on the hard drive, I have plenty of both. It is extremely slow loading sometimes as much as 6-8 MINUTES at times. And with all the hiccups it is just not worth the slowdown in my production in PS. Looked like really cool new features, but if they are slower and often do not work they are useless. This is my first time complaining about any Adobe products I have used over the last 21 years! Very disappointed.
