Hmm, an interesting question, though I see no simple answer to this one. It depends which kind of “bennifits” you want to consider.
A Business can profit in the Long term from the most financially stable consumer populations, but perhaps rely on maintaining our emotional/intellectual instability so we remain unsatisfied in spirit in perpetual pursuit of products/services/lifestyles we could maybe live “well” without.

Financial Business is amoral, and only grows off of whatever is profitable in terms of dollars. Not measured in happiness or freedom or novelty, variability or well-being, or any of the other qualities of life which individuals may see as value. But we still depend on Businesses we create to bennifit our various needs! So i think it’s an endlessly nuanced balance. And in order for us to pursue this line of questioning about who/what is “benefiting” —people or businesses — we must consider what kinds of “benefiting” we’re discribing, and for Which people, how Sustainably, at what Cost, and importantly What ideological value system do we feel like using to measure our success ... e.g. Will we most value creating the Most benifits possible for some people? Or should we most value pursuing the most equal benifits for all people? what if that means everyone is disadvantaged equally, do we feel okay with that sacrifice ?

— Probably depends a lot on what you individually stand to loose or gain....or maybe just what you had for breakfast... — But most core moral value systems I’m aware of ultimately pivot around an attempt at self-preservation which seems rooted in evolutionary instincts to pass on most advantage to your own offspring who will carry your DNA, and next to protect your perceived social tribe, who you rely on in the most immediate overt way.

Nature just selected for these values in the evolution of social organisms, like us, because any early creatures with mutations that put strangers first before their own needs would likely die out. True Altruism is rare, But Now becoming a more benificial trait in humans as we abruptly become a globally interconnected species and the powerful effects of our actions are no longer contained within our planet, let alone our continents! so it’s apparently essential we make use of our unique kind of consciousness to adapt our modes of opporating, if any of us wish to continue our species further.
((Even if you’re someone who strictly values your children first, then yourself, then your next of kin, then your larger community, then your whole cultural group in the abstract, Then the whole of humanity after that, and Then all the other plants and fungi and animal life on this planet... we’ve all developed over eons to be highly interdependent so isn’t it useful we can take full advantage of the special brains we inherited to finally comprehend the importance of this useful knowledge, to serve the prosperity of our prodigy.))

Anyway, IF you are someone, like me, who feels a moral goal is something like; Sustainable long term benifits for Health, Social and Emotional well-being of All humans, above a certain (debatable) minimum standard of satisfactory living, but still Allowing for the INDIVIDUALISTIC successes of unique or lucky people, AND ALSO allowing for the perpetual advancement of innovation like cultural and technological benifits to be incentivized, even when it means short term sacrifices for some... Well then, I suppose the “Internet of Things” can generally benefit a few or most humans equally or unevenly in some ways or most ways, or dissadvantage some or most of us in certain other

Lol it’s all a fucking balancing act!

A long time ago (the 1980's, I think;), an American tourist couple found themselves stranded in a small "Middle Eastern" village. Seeking help, but not speaking the language, they came across a boy who said "Etienne, he fix everything." Intrigued, they followed the young English-speaking boy to an Automatic Teller Machine! (Was is American Express? Visa? Mastercard? That I don't recall, but it was the first ATM I'd ever seen or heard of.;)

Oh just what we need another industrial revolution when we're living amongst 3 at this very moment
EDIT: that resource management for urban stuff is going to be really important with climate change where we'll have to regularly mass migrate or die.
