The fact that you don’t show “just the good stuff” is why I’m subscribed to your channel.

A good tip to avoid wasting CO2 is to hook up the pressurized fermenting vessel to the keg beer side with the transfer hose and use the spunding valve on the keg. This allows all the fermenting co2 to purge the keg and also pressurizes the keg to about the same as the fermenter. You explained the math of multiple purges and the diluting and getting rid of the oxygen and when considering about 20 liter batch giving about 400 liters of co2, maybe more if the beer is on the stronger side, it means about 20 dilutions for the keg plus the co2 is also pushed to the bottom. I've used this just for the sake of saving co2 but ofcourse the cost of co2 per purged keg is neglible. Anyway just thought to share this tip.

Please, do exactly this process with these kegs, but instead of the co2 tube, connect it to your fermenting vessel. Connect all the kegs in series. It would be interesting to see if a 20L batch produces enough CO2 to push sanclean and flush all the kegs.

I would love to see how you clean your kegs. Also, what would you suggest for kegs and keg parts that have sat around dirty for some time? How would you clean them?

Good shit, Dr. Hey, that sanitiser was looking mighty dirty for clean kegs, it is that the normal colour of it?

Lots of microbiological life in tap water, always use sanitiser for purging your kegs ;) Great video though!

6.15: It's not going to be a problem... Why? I feel that with a floating dip tube quite a lot is left in the keg. Do i have wrong length tube?

I have a video suggestion for you, doc: One of my corny kegs has developed some significant rust spots on the inside. How would you treat that?

Great content as usual Dr Hans. I'm surprised you don't use a carb cap for opening your disconnects though. They seem to do everything these days. Probably just as cheap as your IKEA clip. 😉

The 18L corny is smaller than the Fermenter King JR, so you didn't actually lose any/a lot of saniclean.

Once you start using the keg, howlong can you still keep the contents fresh and drinkable? I have had beer go bad in the keg after some months. Are it my beer lines not cleaned enough? I keep my beer lines on starsan till I attach to the keg.. maybe a good episode best practices to keep good for a long time after hooking up to the beer lines.

You should not keep your CO2-bottle laying down because then you push liquid CO2 through the valve and that is why you needed to defrost it. And by the way air contains aprox. 21% O2 not 90%.

I'm glad to see you are outside doing that. It's important to be in a well ventilated environment when working with CO2. In higher concentrations it can be lethal so it should be used with care.

Wow! You are anal about spraying star san on everything.

You should clean your patio as well as you clean your kegs 🥴

Hi Doctor. Ever thought of harvesting CO2 from the pressurised fermentation? I have tried and filled up all my empty kegs easily in 10 minutes, fermentation was active so quickly went back to set pressure in Fermzilla
