Buy your new air filter before removing the old one. Most of us don't have an extra vehicle to go for a drive to pick up a part for the other vehicle. Get the sequence right!!

As a mechanic this is not always so easy and can sometimes to be quite frank piss somebody off!! Like I forget what generation of Ford focus but the filter and housing are in the driver fender well and you can't just replace the filter! You had to replace the whole sealed box! Pretty stupid! Or like the Volkswagens where some of the filters are part of the plastic beauty cover and have 1 million t20 screws in them!

And if you own a diesel you can tell if your air filter is clogged by the black smoke coming out of the exhaust because when they don’t get enough air there’s a lot of fuel that doesn’t get burnt and then your exhaust will have black smoke coming out but if your truck has the emissions deleted then it’s a little harder to tell
