Stars acquire defenceman Methot from Golden Knights

The Dallas Stars have acquired former Senators (and Golden Knights) defenceman Marc Methot from Vegas in exchange for a draft pick and goaltender Dylan Ferguson.

Marc Methot first game with the stars is against vegas. It will be an emotional night because he is facing his teammates he was with for 5 whole days.

Dumb move.. as a sens fan I know methot is an amazing and underrated defencemen who is almost never on when goals are scored against he could have even been a good starting captain for them

If the stars 3rd overall pick can play this year there defense is gonna look pretty good .Hell they could even make the playoffs.

We knew that the Knights were going to have to trade players especially d-man. The price for acquiring those d-man was lower because other teams knew the Knights needed to trade some of their d-man and there are other teams that could also move a defenseman (ducks, wild) that could fill in that need. As a result instead of the Knights having the advantage of supply, the teams looking to acquire a d-man had more options available and therefore the price to acquire was lower than it normally would be. Plus I think Methot has a no trade or limited trade clause which limits the number of teams that Vegas could actually trade him to which makes it even more difficult to get anywhere near free market value for him. As a result, the value of Methot ended up being a 7th round pick from this year's draft and a 2nd round pick 3 years from now.

Looks like DAL is finally starting to pull its head out of its arse (excluding using 17-19 mil on 3 goalies) which worries me a little bit.
