In total nuclear test megatonnage, from 1945–92, 520 atmospheric nuclear explosions (including 8 underwater) have been conducted with a total yield of 545 megatons, with a peak occurring in 1961-62, when 340 megatons were detonated in the atmosphere by the United States and Soviet Union.

I'm a bit skeptical of some of these claims. According to Wikipedia "As of 1993, worldwide, 520 atmospheric nuclear explosions (including 8 underwater) have been conducted with a total yield of 545 megaton (Mt): 217 Mt from fission and 328 Mt from fusion" - and that's just the ones we detonated in the atmosphere. There have been thousands of nuclear tests in the span of a few decades. If detonating just 100 nuclear warheads could cause such devastating effects, then should we not already be in a much worse position?

Show the link to people who think a nuclear war with just 100 bombs would lead to nuclear winter and human extinction. Even Carl Sagan’s famous was said to be incorrect by Carl himself
