Metering modes do exist, if your solely focused on correctly exposing the subject just get to spot metering and select the subject and expose according to your subject…

It’s unnecessary.. tech is very old.. cameras are smarter.. dynamic range is bigger.. raw files are amazing.. just fire one or two test shots for a scene.. cameras can show any highlights peaking in playback mode.. don’t buy light meter

Some cameras like Olympus show you which area is overexposed and which one is underexposed in real time. Panasonic has zebras that can tell which area is overexposed

Meters are too expensive. I'd rather rely on histogram and bracket my shots whenever possible.
