I asked a woman at work why she wanted to buy a new suv. She didn't even want to trade her older volvo in. She told me, "So I can put my kids in it." I told her that she could put her kids in the volvo...She only has 2 children. She then started to get mad at me. Smh, some people are just destined for bad outcomes.

Hell I know a woman old enough to be his mom and she did something stupid, she's 46 and bought a 2013 Ford Edge last year, borrowing from her husband. It cost $28, 000 and she still owes $16, 000 on it. She's sadly one of my co-workers. Oh well Jose, better to do dumb @ 24 than at 32 (my age) or 46!

i just finished paying off my old car loan and have been broke for 3 years and was gonna take out another loan on a truck then i saw this video and changed my mind thank you dave ramsey!

you can be laid off /fired with no notice at most jobs..remember that. i drive a 92 chevy work van i paid $800 for and it runs great. you have to be ready for that unexpected financial downturn. you dont have to be a super cheapskate but.. use common sense.

This is the battle going on in my head every time I hear about somebody's "struggle" with debt and how expensive their car payment is ... I don't get it. I still drive the car I owned when I was 16 and am now 25. My next car will be my "new to me" mommy van in 3 years!

I make $90K a year, and I drive a 20 year old truck which i bought for $4000 cash. sometimes I think a newer car would be nice, then I sit down, pencil out how much my monthly payments would be, plus insurance, registration, and maintenance... then I would say no. I spend $60 a week in gas, $600 insurance a year... and $60 insurance. life is good when you can live with less. cheers!

One guy got on me for tricking out my Grand AM. I payed a few hundred. Later on in the year, he buys a car for $40, 000. and has a car note of almost $600.

I have a 18 year old truck, paid $1200. Runs fine until it doesn't. Fix it and continue on. Even if the repair bills add up to $1000 in a year, I am still a head by 1/2 in comparison to the cost of a new car payment.

I got into an argument with a friend who believes that everyone is entitled to a new car and new house. He thinks that ever person at any full time job should be able to support a family and have these things. Its completely ridiculous. Not surprisingly he is going nowhere in life.

Thats why you buy a good used car! Our family bought a 1998 malibu with 80k miles for around $2k. This car is in perfect shape and will last a long time, and it gets 28mpg. You dont need a "new" car.
