Why I ALWAYS Wear Sunglasses (why sunglasses are important)

Показать описание

Sunglasses are not only a great fashion accessory and helpful for reducing light sensitivity (photophobia), but there are also many health benefits of sunglasses. That is exactly why I wear sunglasses.
Sunglasses SHOULD protect against ultraviolet light (UV light) and this helps prevent many different eye diseases and eyelid diseases from developing.

Timestamps for why you should wear sunglasses:
UV Light Protection (What is UV light) - 1:31
Sunlight Causes Cataracts - 2:22
Sunlight ages and thins your eyelids - 3:12
5-10% of skin cancer is on the eyelids - 3:42
Photokeratitis (snow blindness) - 4:02
Pterygium (Surfer's Eye) - 4:45
Corneal Healing from LASIK Eye Surgery - 5:16
Migraine headaches and photophobia - 6:13
Polarized vs non polarized sunglasses - 6:44

If you are not sure if your sunglasses protect against UV light, look for anything labeled UV400 or "full UV light protection" or contact the manufacturer.

At age 63 I still have 20/20 vision even though I have lived and played in some very harsh environments. From the snows of Alaska and Canada, to the ocean, to the desert southwest. Also, for the past 35 years I have lived at 7000 ft. and routinely am above 10, 000 ft. I have always credited my continuing good eyesight to the fact that I have worn good, high end sunglasses all my adult life.

My eyes are pretty sensitive to light. I always have tinted windows and wore cheap sunglasses before all the time. 6 months ago I got some prescription sunglasses. They are polarized with all the coatings. AR, Blue blocking, anti scratch, everything they offered. When I put them on for the first time I almost started crying because the world looked to beautiful. I just felt like that was how life was meant to be seen. My eyes felt relaxed for the first time I could remember

I am known as "the girl with the sunglasses"... I have always had sensitive eyes so I can always be found wearing sunglasses as long as the sun is up, rain, snow & shine. People tend to poke fun at me (esp. in the Winter) and I embrace it.

I use to have intense eyes that intimidated people but after months of wearing sunglasses I feel my eyes are more relaxed and I appear more friendly and approachable to people. Also preventing crows feet is another plus.

My eyes would've appreciated more if I started wearing sunglasses sooner. I've always dismissed the idea of getting prescription sunglasses for multiple [silly] reasons until I got a pair a couple of days ago and I couldn't be any happier.

Hi there, I wear sunglasses pretty much all the time when I’m outdoors, even during the winter or in cloudy days. I was diagnosed with RP at age 12, and the eye doctor recommended getting specialized sunglasses. He said that it would help block the blue and ultraviolet light from causing more damage to my retina. I enjoy your informative videos. Keep up the good work.

I initially began to wear sunglasses because UV causes premature aging to the skin along with all the other things that UV does to skin. But now knowing the effects it has on the eye itself, I found this pretty informative and encouraging to keep wearing them.

Yep! I can’t stop wearing my prescription ray bans! Think I spent a good amount of money on them since my prescription is so dang high. None the less I love them.

I wear sunglasses (polarized, of course) for both as a need to protect my eyes while riding my bike and/driving and as an accessory. I like the look.😎

Wow, I better start wearing my prescription sunglasses. I noticed I’m developing a little of that surfers sunburn on the side of my eye, and was wondering what was going on. Thanks for your extremely informative video 👍

Sunglasses help keep your peepers healthy (you only get one pair, so take care of them), not to mention you look good while doing so! 😎
