Actual confirmed story: Slenderman was created by a user called Victor Surge. His real name is Eric Knudsen and he was a big fan of the watchmen comics especially the character victor sage. And he made his own character Slenderman inspired by Victor Sage and victor sage also wears a suit and so does slenderman to make them look similar.

Another Theory: Slenderman used to be a normal man with a wife and a daughter. I go by Dvlopers story, a woman named Gretta married someone named Greg which soon they had a child, named Angeline. A kid named Simon was really tall and skinny for his age, and he summoned a demon who said he would find him and curse his whole bloodline. And he killed his family, Simon watching... So he ran to a nearby house who kept him safe, he went to Gretta's house. Years later he married Angeline. And they had a child named Rina. she had a bond with her granny, Gretta. And when she turned 16, the demon struck. They went to the park, rina felt sick so she laid down on a hammock. Then the demon attacked using her as a vessel. She screamed to go home. But when they got home, the demon switched vessels and transferred to Angeline... She went crazy and poisoned Rina and Simon. And ran to her room and cried as she heard them screaming in pain. When Rina came in she screamed why and attacked but Angeline scratched her many time and broke her jaw and broke her neck. Simon screamed and grabbed her by her throat. But he fell from being weak of the poison. He broke her jaw, but she broke his neck. She dumped Rina in a cellar. And put Simons body in the woods. Later she was put in a asylum where they beat her and she escaped but when she turned around to see the asylum, it was Rina and Simon. They were really disfigured and pale with every neck twitch there was a crack. Simon had no face... They were no longer Simon and Rina.... The were Slendrina and Slenderman. And the killed her. But she used Simons black magic to make them forget so they could be a happy family again... And Gretta and Greg got attacked by the demon and we're now Granny and Grandpa!

I think combining this theory makes sense with the fact that he has no eyes but he can see just not very well which is why he kills so many due to his poor eyesight he can’t 100% confirm it’s the bullies that did it to him

The slender man story or "Der Großmann" was a tale of a guy who got attacked for doing something he shouldn't have he had every single socket in his body pulled out, hence the length, then he was hung from hooks in trees (the origin of the tentacles) while alive and left to of pain and starvation (the slender part) he originally came back to take revenge on the families of those that did it to him (nightmare on elm Street vibes) however his victim list grew whenever someone made a joke about it or such and the more people knew about him the stronger he'd get (Scarlet King vibes)

Slenderman is based off of a short horror contest in the early 2000's or 1900's (can't remember) the original photo for slenderman is an old timey photo with a playground, a child and in the very background you can see slenderman. Slenderman actually belongs to that contest but it is also widely famous for Creepypasta, otherwise known as Copypasta. Its a site for short horrors and tales, some are even based on real legends or stories. Examples include Jeff the Killer, The Russian Sleep Experiment, The Rake and Laughing Jack. Both Laughing Jack and Slenderman have been blamed for 2 real life crime cases, the slenderman stabbings is one and back around that time a little girl who claimed Laughing Jack killed her parents and stuffed thier intestines with candy like a piñata appeared. They arrested both girls in the slenderman stabbing and the little girl for the murder of her parents.
