The banned Max Verstappen F1 tactic (that actually helps him)

It’s quite normal to see Formula 1’s rulemakers outlaw tactics from drivers and teams that they think are unsafe, unfair, or just a bit undesirable.
What’s slightly more unusual is for such a ban to actually help the original offender.
That’s the case for world champion Max Verstappen, who is no longer allowed to deploy the restart tactic he had used three races in a row - and is being forced to stop doing something that really wasn’t working.

As far as the rules go, the FIA appears to have started a campaign to eliminate all the voids in enforcement of the rules. There will be no more, "Well you haven't enforced that rule for 5 years!" excuses. It's not the rules they are tightening, it's the perception that the teams are in charge of them and how they are monitored.

I will take strict enforcement of the rules over vague indecision all day, every day.

Wait a second... they should get the Valkyrie to be the safety car👀 that would be so cool

Here's a thought: The problem has always been there, it's just that more and more people/medias are looking at these stuff in F1, so essentially they didn't get worse, but exposed.

if the rules say so then apply them. "Striking the right balance" should not even be an option. If you are trying to strike a balance on a rule then the rule is not clear enough or needs revision. Rules should be black and white and objective, no wiggle room on less it is an edge case far beyond what you normally encounter, which should then trigger a revision of that rule and not be a "wiggle room" opportunity. you give these drivers an inch and they will take a mile, literally.

Apparently Leclerc was also going to complain about the AM safety car until he saw it sliding around and figured poor Mylander was doing his best

I just can't agree with the statement they've release about the turtle safety car, saying it is the race control that dictates the pace to ensure safety when:
1. Cold tyres have 0 grip;
2. Cold breakes don't work;
3. Leclerc said (and Maylander thanked him) that he could see the aston martin was on the edge, sliding all over, so it was neither safe nor adjusted by the race control.

Simply put, the AM is not fast enough to be the F1 SC, and it's the main cause of what happened with Tsunoda and Mick.

Aston Martin can't catch a break this season. Even their safety car is too slow!

Honestly, just change the safety car to a GT3 race car that can do fast enough and can slow them down as well. So we won’t need to discuss pace issue ever again.

This is cool. But forcing Verstoppen to park before the end of all the races is a bit harsh.

Pierre Gasly has a Rooster around everybody knows that. I mean the national animal of france is a Rooster. FIA just wanna make sure he is well.

I'd rather have them constantly stick to the letter and spirit of the rules than be wishy-washy about them. Consistency is key, and that's all anyone's really been asking for. This isn't anything new - it's a decades old problem. I still think that there should be a permanent group of FIA/F1 stewards, assisted by a driver and a track representative, so they'll have the insight of how drivers think, and how a track works. With the same stewards, we'll get consistency in decision making - or at least we'll stand the best chance of it!

8:30 Not wearing jewellery on track is a safely issue and has been part of the rules for a while (like in many other sports). Niels Wittich is right about that.

I agree with the jewelry and underwear rules, but still you gotta love Gasly's response.

The new race directors are doing a good job. No-nonsense. I’m here for it.

Isn't it cool that Max has so many rules named after him? Showes he's the best on the grid. 😎

The DRS zone deletion was a bloody joke. The first driver that then made the most noise about this strangely found it favoured their team above others, what a shock.
A clear stuff up from the new "massi".

It is a bit of silly to focus on the Verstappen tactic because the most problematic part of safetycar restart is the acceleration & braking.

HI Scott, in case you see this message, could you please do a segment on virtual and full safety car advantage/disadvantage for a car that pits before/during and after. My case in point is how Sergio got screwed in Saudi when he pitted the lap before a virtual (screwed) and then full (would not have been screwed) safety car. Now I understand the concept of the VSC but generally, I've always thought it was BS. Your consideration would be appreciated.

9:07 That is something I NEVER expect to see from Gasly.
