Fun Scrap Wood Projects - Magic Golf Ball and Cube Within a Cube

​Do you have a bunch of scrap wood just laying around your shop and taking up space. Well, today I’m going to show you a few projects that are easy to make and perfect for scrap wood. The Magic Golf Ball in a Block of Wood and the Cube Within a Cube are fun projects that and great conversation pieces.

Cube in a cube -how cool! Sugestion- cover the golf ball with plastic cling before inserting to keep it clean for finishing.

I've made several ball in cage puzzles in the past sixty years. But l made them the old fashioned way, with a pocket knife. I also abandoned as many as I made. To my mind the golf ball is an interesting curiosity but is contrived. The man made ball inside worked natural wood says there's a trick to it. That said I am going to make another one but the trick will be to use the hole saw spinning against the timber spinning on the lathe to shape the ball. The ball from a piece of the timber used to make the cage. That way I could make several a day.

All that is by way is saying 'Good Job!' 👍

Oh, once I decided to whittle a chain. I roughed out about five feet of timber on the band saw and started whittling. I got to about five links before I lost interest.

How would you cut A "Tetrahedron" four sided plane figure made up of equal lateral triangles ( what a square is to cube a triangle is to a "Tetrahedron") four vortices with 60 degree corners on a Tetrahedron in place of six vortices with 90 degree corners on a cube. this would be more of a challenge than buzzing 6 inches off the end of a 6 x 6 post?

I sand the inner cube before loosening it, so it still has support. Once you cut it, you can just focus on the corners
