Crystal Clear River Kayaking in Mexico – Inspirato Pass Trip in Riviera Maya (Banyan Tree Mayakoba)

We're off on yet another Inspirato Pass trip and this week's destination is the Banyan Tree Mayakoba resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico (just south of Cancun and just north of Playa Del Carmen). In this video, Phil and Colt were deep sea fishing out on the Caribbean Sea toward Cozumel (they're catching tonight's dinner!), so the girls decided to have a little fun of their own.

Come along for a brief ride with a our guide Saul as we paddle through the clearest river in the world and encounter exotic wildlife like crocodiles, iguanas, and TERMITES?!

There's something about crystal clear water that just takes your breath away. A kayak trip my family took back on Maui had us about a mile off shore. I had the idea that I wanted to see if the ocean bottom was still visible by sticking my head under the water so I rolled out of the kayak with a snorkeling mask. I couldn't see the bottom but I did see an indescribable blue with sun rays shooting down to a point hundreds of feet below us. Again, it took my breath away. I told my oldest daughter (probably 8 at the time) who was in the kayak with me and she said she wanted to see it too. She also slipped out of the kayak seat, a mile off shore, in Tiger shark infested water, with no solid ground in site, and saw a beauty she still talks about today.

Wow we didn't know this place existed! Looks so epic! Glad to know those are termites nests haha, saw a couple and had no clue what they were!
