Darth Vader vs Maul - The EPIC What-If Star Wars Lightsaber Duel (Legends) #Shorts

Did you know Darth Vader fought Maul? Well… kinda.

In issue 9 of the Star Wars Tales comic series these two Dark Side users faced off. This series was never canon - it was a collection of “what if” stories. But if you ever wondered what would happen if these two Sith Lords had dueled then here is your answer.

Vader is confronted by a dark side cult on the moon Kalakar Six, informing him his past as a Jedi has made him unsuitable to be a Sith Lord. Having returned Maul from the dead, their plan is to have him kill Vader and be reinstated as Darth Sidious’ apprentice.

The two engage each other, with Maul taunting Vader throughout the combat. Gaining the upper hand, Maul disarms Vader. Moving in for the killing blow, Vader calls his lightsaber to him through the Force and delivers the killing blow to Maul through his own stomach.

Unsure how a machine could have enough hatred to overcome him, Maul asks what Vader could possibly hate so much to find the strength. Vader replies with a single word: myself.

I really thought Vader would say kenobi and then maul would be like “ya know, he has a point” and they’d start looking for obi wan to kill him

Anakin wiped the floor with Maul as a kid with an exact replica training Droid of Maul... They had to avoid having them fight in the clone wars cause Anakin would hand Maul's ass to him real quick. What chance would Maul have against Vader.

Vader is a wrecking ball with the force. The duel in empire strikes back was supposed to demonstrate this. Even the duel in Return of the Jedi was him holding back and only using a lightsaber... Maul while strong in the force would have been overwhelmed by Vaders raw power.
