The CET exams for entrance to professional colleges in Karnataka began on Thursday - after the High Court decided on Wednesday that students could not be prevented from writing the exams. Students had approached the Court asking for postponement citing Covid concerns and the spike in cases in the state. But the state government insists that all the correct SOPs are in place. At hundreds of examination centres around the state, students holding their hall tickets queued up for temperature checks and to use sanitiser before heading into socially distances exam halls. Around 2 lakh students are expected to appear for these exams. These are not the first exams conducted during the pandemic by Karnataka. The 10th standard SSLC exam for almost 8 lakh students and the pre- university exams has already been conducted. The state government insists the student will all be safe.

I applied for 7 college entrance test (total application fee - Rs 15000)which were mainly to be conducted on centre based online mode but now due to covid - 19 most of these exams are being conducted on home based online mode which requires proper IT facilities like laptop/desktop, stable internet connection - 2mbps, stable power supply, webcam, mic, etc.. Now the main problem is I came back to my village due to lockdown and here there is neither proper power supply nor stable internet connection. I don't even have a laptop and I could not even arrange one. Even if I manage to arrange a laptop I won't be able to deal with the internet or power supply. 4 out of 7 exams are already conducted and I was not able to appear for 3 exams (approx Rs 6000) just because I didn't have the IT facilities. I was however able to appear for 1 test but it was not worth it because the application fee was Rs 3900 and the exam was conducted through Google form. Moreover the institution brought new changes in exam process just one day before the exam stating that it would be an open book exam. Since the exam was conducted on Google form what's the guarantee that the applicant was the one to appear for the test?? Maybe someone else appeared instead of the real applicant. I don't know whether I would pass those exams or not but I prefer to fail after appearing the test rather than just failing because of not having proper facilities. And yes Rs 6000 matters to me a lot.

THIS examination center is far bigger than compared to other centers located on the outskirts of main cities. It is obvious that you have chosen a safer center keeping your saftey in mind. THIS SHOWS THE PARTIAL SITUATION. This isn't the case for every examination center, thousands of lives were still put in danger. You just covered a safer part.

Guys listen to me. None of the students are saying that they are facing problems. We wouldn't do that . We will say what is true .let the government also know that's it's easy to declare and very hard to follow .
