I was diagnosed with hypertension a couple years ago and put on Losartan. After making a few corrective lifestyle changes, I was able to stop taking it. First, I started mixing my own one-third strength coffee. It sounds horrifying but it works. Second, I significantly reduced my sodium intake to less than the DV% (2300mg/day). Third, I learned how to manage body tension. Twice a day I meditate in my chair and release tension mostly accumulated in my jaw, shoulders and upper back. The hypertension slowly started to subside. Footnote: if you buy a BP monitor, get an arm sleeve. The wrist sleeves are horribly inaccurate. Good luck and good health.

Doctors need to emphasize the weird coughing side effect that is possible with Lisinopril. Too many people get the symptom, don't realize it's from the drug and end up coughing for years from it.

Linsinopril made me have a persistent annoying cough. Once off of it, coughing stopped.

A number of years ago we were told not drinking enough water causes high blood pressure they found this out in Germany I had high blood pressure 184 over 74 so I started to drink the right amount of water for my body I did this for 3 months and dropped my blood pressure down to 130 over 70 so a person should try this before getting on to drugs with all their side EFFECTS good luck eh

Normal BP used to be 130/80 then went to 120/80 or below. My doctor explained this, it was only to sell more BP drugs. Most people don't understand that your BP changes all day. 160 and below will not do any damage, at that point you'll need to make lifestyle changes or then consider drugs. Don't let these drug manufacture reps scare you or convince you to become their customer.

Lisinopril almost killed me. After on it for almost a year, I started coughing all the time.. Then if I ate food, usually bread, it caused violent coughing, where I couldn't catch my breath. It immediately went away when I stopped it. I switched to hydrochlorothazide and Amlodipine, and my numbers are perfect, with no side effects.

I’ve had chronic HBP for some time but since I started taking 10mg amlodipine for the past 3 years my bp has been consistently under control with zero side effects. I use my bp monitor to monitor regularly. I’m 71 years old and this medication works beautifully.

Amlodipine is the worst, my legs swelled up+ I had severe legs cramps at night made me scream blue murder. I had to get acupuncture treatments to take the excess fluid out+ take of the pain...so, never again I will take amlodipine.

My beautiful mother in law took it upon herself to reduce her prescribed BPM in favor of alternative means to reduce her BP, God rest her soul.

Well, I'm taking 2 out of 3 of those listed medicines. The 3rd was Losartan. But now, my doctor has switched me to a new Rx that has all 3 in one pill. I've also reduced the dosage of the amlopidine, which has stopped my ankles from swelling up.

After having bad reactions to 4 different BP medications, I am now on Coreg- 6.25 mg twice a day for 2 years w no side effects. It's also important to exercise, reduce sodium in your diet and drink adequate amt of water. You can't rely on the meds alone. After reading many comments it's obvious that there are so many medications out there and they affect everyone differently.

Years ago I was prescribed Lesinopril for hypertension, but after taking it daily for several years, I began to have severe coughing attacks, almost continually. Told my doctor about that and he changed my med to Omlasartin, and the coughing went away, other than my normal allergy related coughing. Much happier about the situation now!

I’ve been taking Losartin but lately my BP had been too low(IMO).It’s been 109/70, sometimes as low as 100.
I have lost some weight so my doctor said to start cutting the pills in half.
I have cut out all sodas.

Blockages and narrowing of arteries cause high blood pressure. I drink about 60 ml of whiskey 3 or 4 times a week. I believe the beneficial ingredients in whiskey helps dissolve minor blockages in arteries.
