I’m a Jamaican 🇯🇲 watching this! Growing up I felt such a disconnect to my African heritage because I didn’t know my original mother tongue. I was brought up in the U.K so we spoke English and patois. I was blessed that my mum and grandparents allowed me to be free to speak patois it was never something that was looked down on. Great video! ❤

Listen the Mulondo's, Luganda could be a struggle for now, however manners are on point. That confession about plates spoke to my heart!❤

The best way for the children to learn your native language(especially those who speak English the most) is for the parent to deliberately add in the local language to English in their daily conversations. that's what i did with my son

Guys thanks for being brave, first to recognise that it is a weakness and showing an interest to improve. I like this

Coming from a household where English was the primary language, I struggled to learn my mother tongue (Jonam) as an adult. Now, as a parent, I’m making a conscious effort to teach my child the language early on. I really enjoyed the episode!
